DIY Jewelry-Anneal a Copper Washer to Make a Hammered Clasp!

In this video I will show you how I anneal a copper washer so I can manipulate it into a clasp. I then add a hammered texture to the washers as well.

Very creative clasp! I bought some washers to make fancy jump rings, but now have one more use for them. Nice work, Melissa! fyi -I think the metal heats up faster when laid on a block of charcoal which lays on a firebrick. The air cools it rapidly but the charcoal does not. Also a propane torch (self igniting $40) from Home Depot would work as well as the butane. The butane torch is safer, but propane is hotter. Propane gives off CO2 but butane does not.

You need to anneal the copper several times when you hamer it. Because it turn hard each yime you hamer. Tiene que cocer el cobre cada vez que lo martilla, se va volviendo duro y el calor relaja las partes del cobre y lo hace mas fácil.
