I’m so doing this for an outdoor light above my dining table under a tree. Figured I could protect it from the elements by wrapping it in a plastic when not in use. Ty for this!

You could use a synthetic cord which also helps protect it from the elements. I have done that with outdoor macrame pieces. Good luck!

It's a cool build & looks great. Only thing I'd suggest is upgrading to brazing over soldering. I'm 100% certain that will be the failure point if this ever receives a decent impact or even gets a bit too hot from an incandescent bulb plus a high ambient temp. Wouldn't want all your hard work to be easily ruined.

I am so impressed! I've tried to make pendant lights before but I couldn't figure out what to use as the base that would be big enough. I never thought to use thrifted lamp shades! Mind blown! 🤯 You are a genius!

@@juliakonya7266 can you solder coat hanger wire? If so the possibilities using newer syle lamp shades would be great. I was always chicken to try soldering. You have inspired me to try!!

I watched a YT video where the creator used a bic lighter to solder coat hangers because he didnt have a solder iron. Definitely going to try it with hangers

This is beautiful 😍 May I ask what thickness of jute twine you used? In the UK we get anything from 1mm (extra fine) to 4mm+. It’s believe standard is 2mm but yours looks that bit finer… thanks in advance 🙏🏻
