Love this channel. So glad I get to see the conservation of pheasants even in the offseason. I’m so glad that we have an organization like pheasants forever to keep pheasants around for younger people like me! I love hunting pheasants and it is a good excuse to hang out with freinds and family and eat some good meat!

We stayed at an AirBNB that looks awfully similar to that place you stayed in. We were in Morland just west of Hill City...saw a bunch of birds in that area back in Nov of 2019

Thanks for this!! IM new to bird hunting with a young lab (1.5 yeras old) and have started doing some bird hunting. We suceeded during dove season, started on quail, but no flushes yet. And one duck hunt under our belt with a teal to show for that. Now im researching Pheasants. Im in West Texas so Kansas might be a good option north of Amarillo and thru OK. I can be into KS in about 5 hours so thats doable. Any tips, tricks, or things you can provide for me trying to do a DIY pheasant hunt solo with my young lab? LIke Louis the lab....my dog has high high drive.

It's crazy how big Kansas quail can get, we've had people mistake them for hen pheasants when they get up they are so big

I hear that most places you have to pay a certain rate to hunt birds. Are there any places where you don’t have to pay to hunt birds?

So you never kill a hen. In the movies you always see at least 15 hens for every rooster. I'm curious if the rooster helps defend the nest or does it abandon the hen . If the rooster helps defend the nest it might be a better idea to take a hen now and again instead of a rooster that helps defend the nest. or does any of the biologist know about that.

It's just illegal to shoot hens on land that is not a hunting club in the state of Kansas

Most of the walk-in hunting areas don't have any good habitat. The state managed land has lost to much grassland . Went from awesome to poor with the management ideas of the last 20 years. Can't take the best winter and nesting habitat and burn, pasture, cut and bail or plant with grain. No habitat left and they can't figure it out!

Sorry guys..that was no birds hunting...you were in the wrong parts of Kansas. I was born and raised here..there are many...many ..many better places to hunt...in Kansas..with flocks if pheasants and quail..getting up..not 1 - 5 birds..10 - 20 phesants..flocks of 30 quail..you all come back..talk to the fish and game in Pratt, Ks..they can tell you where the birds are...all you have to do..is ask...
