What do you think of the craftsman power tools compared to big name brands like Milwaukee or dewalt? I’m actually not a fan of dewalt I think they over charge their customers and are very very greedy in my opinion. I stay away from dewalt at all cost. I’m just not a fan of the company because they don’t do anything to try and produce a more affordable product to their consumers. Prior to my wife and I meeting she had to scrape and I mean literally scrape money together to buy a drill and driver set that she couldn’t afford but she needed it. In my honest opinion there is no reason what so ever to charge 600 for something that’s not worth it in my opinion. Dewalt should be looking for a way to get the product cheaper for their customers. Just my opinion. Thank you.

Nice upgrade! Quick tip on the spackling. Instead of spackle use either 20min or 45min mud. It's both more durable and will cure much more quickly. Also you can probably buy an entire giant bag for the price of two tiny tubs of spackle and you don't need to worry about it drying out.
@mball51453 жыл бұрын
Great job! 1 suggestion I’d make is to spray paint the metal brackets close to your wall colour, so they aren’t cluttering the look.
@Lee-San2474 жыл бұрын
The spackle you used is for minor holes like picture nails, scratches etc. Actual drywall mud will fill larger holes much better and will not sink. I recently found this out after years of doing it the hard way with the pink stuff.

I only needed a 30” countertop over my compact washer and dryer. I found a 30” wide hollow core door at a salvage store for $18. Trimmed it to length and painted it. Makes a great folding table.

@Tinyteacher11114 жыл бұрын
New subscriber, here! Good job! I’m starting to do this stuff more since I just bought a 1962 Craftsman style upgraded ranch. It has needed some practical updates, since the very creative guy who upgraded it (although it’s beautiful, especially on the outside), didn’t think of practical needs, such as a vanity with storage, a mirror that is the right height in the bathroom, (so I can see more than my eyes and up), a first floor laundry, basement stairs that were up to code, a leaky garage, etc. I have a contractor and workers, but I like to do things myself when I can and am upgrading my tools and learning! You are so honest about any mistakes, I love it! That’s how you learn! I was thinking the same thing about not attaching the counter top. I don’t see how anyone could give a thumb’s down! 💕🛠

“Alex plus” spackling is paintable in 30 minutes. Also stainless steel washer lines and a washer pan. Aaaaaaandddd.... this makes your laundry room look so damn good! Simple build but what a huge difference this makes. Those puck lights are awesome, thank you so much for all the info and problem solving! You are the man! Have a great year bro!

Awesome job! I did a similar set up in my laundry room. We used a butcher block counter that was supposed to be for an island. It’s so nice to have the folding space now.

I did this and now I have to pull my top-loader 4ft out to load it. Pro-tip: put felt sliders onto the feet of your washer to make moving it a little easier.👌

Great idea!!!
@anthonyng953511 ай бұрын
I was thinking either with the felt sliders or I was going to rent an airsled to maneuver the washer and dryer in and out a few times to adjust the back machine legs since they are in such a tight space.

only suggestion is to cut counter top depth so it is flush with the transition line of where the top of the washer/dryer meets the control panel.
@crunchywaterbeats805 жыл бұрын
A Junction box is not required for fluorescent light fixtures because the trough acts like a jbox however it is pretty evident that these new LED fixtures do require them since they dont have troughs in the fixtures.

Doing this right now with my laundry room. Thank you so much🙏🏼 This job was well done 👍🏼I will be watching more of your videos for inspiration.
@twotopsturning64935 жыл бұрын
Looks good, those bins really tie it together. I think an inch or two off the front of the counter would really "open" things up. As for the strip light, the connection is typically done inside the fixture, thus no need for a junction box, to my knowledge.
@twotopsturning64935 жыл бұрын
Also, they have "setting" type drywall mud, usually used for the first coat. It cures chemically, in as little as 45 min, or 90, depending on the one you buy. It's great for larger holes. It does shrink spme though, so you need to topcoat with regular mid. The stuff you used air dries I believe.
@Grizzleback075 жыл бұрын
One addition to your install I would have done is adding water hammer arrestors inline with your washer hoses....that is if you do not have a large arrestor already installed on your main water line for the house.

Good video as my laundry is similar to yours. Your choices seem to cage in your washer and drying so Im not sure how you will ever be able to service them without dismantling the space. We also have similar appliances as yours but we went with the riser drawers under each. I did enjoy your floor tile video. Cheers!

@michaelsummer70825 жыл бұрын
You can get 5 minute mud in the drywall section to patch holes with and then hit it with a heat gun to make it go super fast. The faster the setting time, the harder it is to sand though, but something like you had its worth it. Also, I bought a hard pad for my ROS and it has been amazing for "flattening" stuff. You gotta be careful though, it cuts way faster.

I like your project. I hope you or your wife don't have a problem retrieving the detergent drawer for the washer. I noticed the washer and dryer shelve extend beyond the control buttons of the machine and when you open the little drawer to load de detergent the top shell might be on the way. By now I am sure you figured it out and pull the washer a bit more forward.

The tiling was beautiful and so was the woodwork, but curious -- should there be a drain needed since you have water access to this floor, in case of flooding or pipe issues???
@michaelzdanis39795 жыл бұрын
In general, laundry facilities on the second or higher floor are a problem waiting to happen. Eventually they will flood, some how some way. In the interim, you're trading off convenience. Therefore, understand the trade, what is around them and underneath.
@johnfair624 жыл бұрын
On your table saw, only raise the blade enough height to brake through the surface of the wood, then if the grain of the wood were to catch or a knot and twist you will only get a small cut across your fingers and not lose your fingers.
@mandimusic51095 жыл бұрын
If threat washer door is immovable, then just swap the machines themselves left to right (and put the dryer door back to original.) You might need longer dryer cord and water supply lines, but that's super easy. Better than hauling wet clothes back around a backwards for forever! Just a small note on an otherwise great video set, well done!

I love your channel, and you do great work! Really loved the way this turned out. The only thing i could really criticize on is to just add a nice strip of edge banding to that countertop to give you a nice finished look. Other than that, its perfect!

The dryer has a built-in lint trap which is accessible from the front of the machine. No one cleans their dryer vent ducts weekly, as they're generally behind the machine.

At 9:42 what did you clip your laser to? Also at 12:23 the flexible drive you used helps but just an FYI Dewalt makes two right angle drive attachments. One is for a standard drill driver and one is impact rated. The two are painted different colors on the metal portion but both work really well for tight spots. Both are available at Home Depot and Lowe’s. Also some alarm systems offer a unit that will turn off your main water shutoff valve (there are some WiFi enabled systems also that do the same thing). My in-laws would have loved to have had one several years ago when their basement flooded for two weeks while on vacation after the washing machine hose burst. They came home to 7 feet of water in the newly renovated basement and had to swim to the shut off valve. As stated earlier the laundry room turned out very nice.

THANK YOU for the tips on removing those insane wire shelving hooks. Whoever invented wire shelving is a bad bad bad person! Wire shelving should be illegal! It is the bane of my existence and the reason we had to replace an entire piece of sheet rock. After infinite failed attempts to budge said hooks prior to seeing this wonderful video (I am sincerely grateful), I had a slight meltdown in the throes of anger. It is possible that I bashed the wall with the hammer several times to cleanse this anger from my soul 😂 Seriously, those hooks wouldn’t give at all. What a mess I made by incorrectly removing the hooks..... so, I just went ahead and beat the wall into a total catastrophe 😂😱🤘🏻😝🤘🏻
