Nice project. I am planing to do something similar. I have a suspicion that you are not used to electronic. The way you are soldering is a bit telling. I am not able to see that you are using any current limiter. Current through a LED is dependent on the temperature if the voltage is constant and the way you do it, you do not have good control of the current. Since you are using a heat sink with a fan and only about 9W of LED, the temperature should be quite stable and safe (not much heat). You can easily buy a similar step down regulator with a current limiter. When it comes to the heat compound/glue, it is like a bikini. Less is better but it need to cover.

Thanks for your comment. I used the voltage adjustable module -> adjust the voltage drop on the leds. And I use specialized glue.

Indeed. Those 3 LEDs barely need a heatsink if properly powered.

If I'm going to use a single led 3 watts it means i only need a 3 volts adaptor and if i will have 5 led it means 15 volts? So you use 3 bulb and 9 volts but you instead use 12 volts 2A is that also ok? Sorry for lots of questions i have little knowledge about this and I'm doing this too for my nano tank

Btw are you using 3 watts or 1 watts? The supplier told me i should use driver.

​@@pawpotsRS Thanks your comment! I used 3 led Luxeon (3 W/led - 3V-600mA) and 12V/2A adapter So we have 3 (Led) x 3 V =9V I used the step-down module DC to downgrade from 12V DC to 9 V DC.
