Came back to see this again. What do you think about 3d print a coupling between the D-shaft and the leadscrew? I'm unsure about drilling straight enough like you did. Or a 3-5 mm universal joint?

That will work, but it will add to the overall length which I am trying to cut down

@@joe_of_all_trades Your right about that, and i don't like that either. I'm missing a small lathe in my arsenal of tools to though and to be honest, a ridgid connection like the glued one you described.. that calls for a very straight hole. Thank for your answer 🙂

Add some hex head into the print around the end where the cylinder comes out. To simulate the seal cap. This definitely has me interested in taking the file and tinkering with

Go for it, I left it that way to start with a proof of concept, as I refine this more realistic details will get added, tinker away!

Keep the inside diameter of the body, the same size as the tubing diameter, all the way back to the nut. Or a hair bigger so not to bind. This will keep the tube from moving around loosely, and looking crooked, when its extending out to full length. Plus it will always stay sturdy, in line, and not bind, when its starts to retract. I love the idea, and it looks great!👍

Very smart! I was wondering about using the chrome telescopic tubing for this purpose just a few days ago.
