Making one of these too, bit I’m having a lot of trouble with powering both boards off one 7805. Did you isolate the 1820’s in some way?

Would love to know the outcome and if you figure it out. I could see a signal triggering the playback so it just plays once and then waits for next pulse. Or a pulse extender on the pulse to trigger and hold record but it might be hard as it would want to re-record every time the pulse fires. Would be awesome if it worked tho. so many things, 1, love the zoom recorder, i use that literally ever day i love that thing i want to make this i have 4 of those loopers for voices, how much power could i put into that to make it all work, like i dont want to use batteries i want to use a wall wart

I would have to look up the power consumption but in theory you could use a wall wart into a voltage regulator and depending on how much amps the regulator can supply you could have it run everything. Or you could do an individual regulator for each sampler. That might be more stable and isolate the circuits more. The main thing is finding out how much amps the sampler needs and multiply by the number of samplers you want (in your case 4x) and that’s the number of amps you need to supply everything. That’s a simplified explanation but the basic idea. Hope that makes sense.

The outputs of the isd1820 are meant for a speaker, so technically speaking the isd1820 modules are small amps. Simple solution I did was bought a line level converter for automobiles. Small passive system that converts the speaker outs of an amp to line level via RCA. Still working on my lofi sampler but just wanted to pass this info since many of the other diy videos do not mention how to handle the output. They mostly act like its solder straight to jack, not so.

Yeah that’s something I always think about when wiring up outputs but honestly it’s a little over my head on what and how to do it. So I usually just do some type of voltage decider or resistor on the output and of it works, cool. If not, I try something else. Someday I’ll dive into the world of output converters.

Hello, I also have this isd 1820 sampler, unfortunately at the beginning of each recording there is always a "cracking/clicking" that I didn't hear on your recordings. Did you consciously do something to stop the cracking? thanks in advance Regards

I don’t think so. If I remember right, it kind of depended on what I was playing into it and results can vary. Have you tried different devices? What are you inputting into it?

how’d you eliminate the loud popping at start/re-trigger of sample when in loop mode?

Maybe just got lucky? I didn't really have any issues with that if memory serves me. Maybe it has something to do with the sample cutting in on a high phase point or maybe the speaker/output you have hooked up. Sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers!

Does making a recording always replace the old one? Or is there a way to do sound on sound recording?

Yeah it erases the old sample. I don’t think you can layer sounds. It’s probably possible to chain them so you could use the two samplers to bounce the output to from one to the other and mix it with external source but I haven’t experimented with that.

@@SecondhandSynth that is exactly what I want to do with them. Maybe make a few with drums or pads then have to as loopers to bounce between. Let us know if you end up with a diy looper

How do you connect the loop mode?

There is a pin that you bridge to ground (or power, I can’t remember) and with that it loops endlessly.
