I used to teach Macrame and Weaving in the 70’s. This was a flashback to some of my students. I remember them fondly. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face and heart.

@@llotus7305 Thank you. I still do both but more people want something small to do. It’s good that they unplug and concentrate on tying the knots and following instructions. I enjoy their expressions when they get it. It is sweet, honest and lovely to see and experience.

@@sharonrimsza7960 I was taught crafts at a really young age, also how people used to tie packages and parcels with cord, and how to make built in carrying handles. Macrame knots came easy, how to put them together to be pretty was play. We need more elders teaching, knots are awesome

Thank you for sharing. Also enjoyed background music. Took something I thought was too complicated and difficult to attempt and by breaking it down into steps doable. Inspiring.

This stream has the best music on the whole of KZbin! Also your AV & teaching skills make it so easy to follow. Not tried macramé yet but I do enjoy tatting which is an old craft originally from France that is like tiny macramé. Wish I could add a photo here.

I want to make this my first macrame project & follow everything here in the video but I don't see anywhere the measurement for the length of the rope/cord nor the size. Is it a 3mm, 4mm or larger? I woùld greatly appreciate any info you can give. Thanks 😊
@karynstouffer35622 ай бұрын
That's a very good question. Just going by the appearance, I would hazard a guess that the cord used is 5-6 mm. It looks like it is about half a finger in width. Not completely sure what the length is, but it doesn't appear to be longer than 3-4 m being pulled through the knots, so maybe 6 or 8 meters full length? That would be the high end of guess. I think it's probably shorter than that, though. Maybe as little as 4 m before being tied on. If I were to attempt this, without written instructions, I would cut them on the longer guess. You can always cut the excess off.
@djjobain5630Ай бұрын
Here we go . I will attempt it at 5mm. 4 meters long or 13 feet each cord. I'll let you know how it goes. Lise So just finished the macrame And it turned out beautiful Definatly 5mm and 12 feet is plenty 13 feet was to long.

@djjobain5630 Thanks, that's a decent time. I was wondering because I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to projects, so knowing that it's a fairly quick project is helpful.

You really made a macrame tutorial for a project you had to improvise because you didn’t properly plan or measure the cord to accommodate for knot placement. This is why I dislike doing macrame. You really need like an engineering degree to do it right.
