DIY: MACRAME PURSE TUTORIAL | EASY MACRAME BAG | MACRAME MARKET BAG

Hello friends, I am so happy to share this new tutorial with you! In creating this pattern, I made several in all different shapes and sizes, but this one felt like a great universal size that can be used for many occasions. I hope you enjoy the video and get creative with it.
If you are new to macrame or need extra help with Square knots and/or Alternating Square Knots, please watch this slow, step by step tutorial on the basic knots before you begin:

**PLEASE NOTE: The cord length measurements are quite long to allow for some wiggle room as I know many of you will want longer handles, and I personally had a great deal of difficulty tying the very bottom Square Knots to close the bag with shorter cords when experimenting with lengths in creating this pattern. That being said, if you know for sure you knots are very tight, close together, and are comfortable with a short handle, you can get away with cutting about 3/4 to 1 foot less per cord. For myself, I always like to cut some extra cord when attempting a pattern for the first time, as there are many variances in cord sizes from one company to the next, knot tension and more.

Height: 14in/36cm (from top of handle to bottom)
Width: 14in/36cm
Depth: 4.5in/12cm
Here is exactly what I used in this tutorial:
- 5mm braided cord cut to
Handles: 12ft/366cm x 4 (for short handles cut 11ft instead)
8ft/244cm x 4
Body of the bag: 7ft/214cm x 48

What a gorgeous bag! When you cut the ends at the very end of the video, do you leave them a little long, or cut them right down? It looks like they are a couple of inches long inside the finished product. I want to make mine exactly like yours - can you help? Thank you so much!!

Aww thank you so much! I leave an inch or two just incase down the Rosa I have to tighten it up, that way it is easy, especially after carrying something heavy over and over again. They’ve never come loose on me but I do it just incase! BUT if you want to cut the right down, you can always use a bit of fabric glue on the ends just to secure everything in place, or a stitch or two with sewing. That way you know you won’t ever have to worry it:)

I ended up with only just enough length on the filler cords to close up at the end! If I use 3-ply to make the bag again, I'll add another few inches. It depends on what 3mm cord you use. There are so many variations and sizes have huge differences from one company to the next. If by looking at this cord if it looks similar I’d say keep it close the same. The other thing is , if you are using a smaller cord, the bag will be smaller as well so you might want to do a test run with the cord you have :)

It came to one skein for the coloured body part , EXACLTY so careful measuring and cutting cord, then just a bit of new one of a new colour for the handles.
