very cool :) for people who feel uncomfortable doing this with actual books, there are decorative boxes that look like books, I think they would be perfect, plus don't have to cut that much

I've watched a few of these and by far the easiest and cheapest one I've seen is where you turn an old DVD case into a palette, but yours, yours is on a whole other level. In some cases it could be cheap and convenient, but for people interested in making a centre piece for their vanity, something that's not going to be moved around a lot, that's for their most expensive or favorite makeup, it could also be elaborate and a bit more expensive. Just mentally going through what I have on hand, I could easily turn an old sketch book I have into one of these (it even has a magnetic clasp on the outside). Would honestly love to do this with a comic book but I don't know if I have the heart to cut into one :(
@TachiHogans18 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the compliment it was my hope that anybody would be able to do this. The sketch book with the clasp would be beautiful!! I like the comic book idea. I would love to do that to a Captain America comic, he is my favorite! I agree with you I am not quite sure if I have the heart for it. Thank you so much for watching and God bless! :D

+Free Butterfly my first attempt worked but the magnet wasn't strong enough unfortunately. What strength magnet do you use Hun? x
@TachiHogans19 жыл бұрын
+Verity Johnston I used the Darice Magnetics adhesive backed, I believe the packaging said between a 1 to 2 hold on it. That was the highest strength I could find at any of my craft stores, I noticed a big difference between the darice magnetic sheets and the rolls. Evan though they said the same hold the rolls of magnets where very week and I couldn't get anything to stick and the sheets worked much better. The makeup that I used to stick to the magnetics was mary kay, covergirl, and almay. I haven't as of yet depotted any of my urban decay, loreal, wet wild and physician's formula makeup. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know.
@VeriTea9 жыл бұрын
+Free Butterfly thanks Hun. I have some stronger stuff to try. I'm using my makeup geek singles in it so it should work if the magnet is strong enough. I'll try again 😃 x

Hey is the magnet strong enough to prevent the eyeshadows moving around if the book is turned upside down or move afound if the pallete is shaken? Thanks
@TachiHogans18 жыл бұрын
Yes the magnets I used do keep the eye shadows in place from falling out if the palette is upside down. I did use much lighter eye-shadows like mary kay, almay, and covergirl. You would probably need to get a heavier magnet if using bigger eye shadows and blushes to really make sure they don't move and fall out.
@victorkan1758 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tachi! Sorry, I'm actually on my bfs KZbin account this looks weird haha. Thanks for your reply! Okay so Darico magnets are the way to go then I guess. I'll be using make up geek shadows. Do you reckon they'll hold up as fine? THe MUG pans are 26mm in diameter, and also 1.8g of product in each pan. I'm assuming the pan itself is the exact same as each other make up brand pan or very similar :P
@victorkan1758 жыл бұрын
I notice on the back of the Darico magnets packets I saw on your video there's a scale of how strong it is.. I'm buyng magnets online so would you be able to recommend a stronger magnet at all? Possibly able to be cheaply shipped to Australia from eBay? Haha thanks
@TachiHogans18 жыл бұрын
Hey, no worries and your welcome :) They should but I am not 100% sure....... So I just looked up the weight of the eye shadows and blushes I have in my palette and they range from 0.09 to 0.18 ounces which I believe is 1.7g to 5.10g so it should work. I don't know of a stronger magnet or brand, I had a hard time when I went to purchase the magnets, here in the states trying to find anything above the 1 to 2 hold on the Darico magnets. I looked online and in store and I could only find the Darico 1 to 2 hold. I am so sorry. :( I hope this helps and you have a great day :)

I'm not proud of it but I'll never be able to cut a book. I wish I could thought, it's a very cool project. My only concern is about the old page that hovers over the shadows: old paper has that distinct moldy smell and I wouldn't put it near things that should be bacteria free. Even if the book's new, paper is constantly decomposing.
@TachiHogans16 жыл бұрын
I never thought of that, thank you so much for sharing. I definitely wish to be health conscious and I will keep that in mind. Thank you for watching and have a great weekend.

@Vekna6668 жыл бұрын
It's a brand of glue but you can also use regular liquid glue and water it down a little
@victorkan1758 жыл бұрын
I love this idea but where I live it'll cost about $16 for mod podge, $10 for the book if second hand I'm guessing, $5 for paintbrush, $6 for sheet magnet, and lastly $13 for a polyurethane sealant to properly make it waterproof (it would be sitting in my bathroom). I'm in Australia by the way. Does anyone have any cheaper alternatives? Seeing as the Z pallete is $30, and eBay empty palettes $20 or ones with the pans are $5, it's tempting to just buy either of those :(
@kandiekaine75938 жыл бұрын
