This video explains the materials and the process that a friend Kyle and myself used to make a hot tent wood stove out of an Ammo Box. Kyle took on the project and made an incredible custom made wood stove for my hot tent. Hope you enjoy the video!
Thank you so much Kyle for your hard work and the Masterpiece you made!

Awesome! I’m so glad you checked out my video. Good luck with making your tent stove. Just a tip make sure your pipes insert upwards. I made to mistake by having them connect downwards. Nothing to bad that makes them unsafe just a little tip. Cheers!

WOW!!! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!??!?? I need a friend like Kyle!! I have several ammo box sizes that I've collected to make a wood stove out of, but I cannot weld either... So until I find someone to help me out, I just keep them on hand. I'll have to find some muffler piping similar to what you have, my brother can probably help with that. I love ur stove! One thing I might have done different is to slightly angle out the legs, but yours will work out just fine! U forgot to show off the inside, oh the baffle was genius... that will help to keep more heat instead of going straight up the pipe!

I'm planning to make one myself and was thinking of putting intake air holes in the back. Glad I found this video to let me know it can be done!
@simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429
@simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes the intake holes in the back work very well for getting your fire going and keeping a even burn. You will notice on one of my videos where I show my hot tent and the second burn on the wood stove. I added some venting holes in the front I find with that the front and back venting works perfect. Let me know how your stove turns out! Thanks for watching, Cheers!

Instead of grinding the handle off, why not turn it upside down and use the hinged lid as an access to remove the ashes? The bottom, now on the top, could be used to cook on.

Hi yes I did think of getting everything inside the box. If I wanted too fit all the chimney pieces in I would need to cut them and that would require more joint pieces to fit them together. I didn’t want that. Thank you so much for watching, Cheers!

You should have installed the pipes with the larger end at the top. The way they are, creosote can run down the inside of the pipe and leak to the outside at the joints. This is very messy and you are going to hate it when you get it. If you invert the pipes like I suggested each section will act like a funnel and any creosote that runs down the pipe will stay in the pipe till it gets to the stove and be burned. This is a mistake that I see in the design of a lot these tent stoves that are made by so called pros.
@simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429
@simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I have used the stove about 5 times now and the joints had a little creosote but nothing that bad nothing that would make it messy. Thank you for watching!

@bobjones8372
@bobjones8372 4 ай бұрын
Great workmanship but sorry to say it has 2 big design flaws, the pipe is upside down, the male should go into the female so the creosote drips back down on the inside of pipe into the stove and is reburned, that way the pipe stays clean, the way you have it, it can become a gooey mess, also the draft should be low on the front door so air is pulled through the wood. Sorry
@simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429
@simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429 4 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for watching! Thank you for the tips on the pipe and draft holes on the front. I definitely notice the problem with the pipes the first few times I burned on the stove. I recently change that. I will put some draft holes down below the door that should really help the burning of wood thank you. Cheers!
