DIY Medusa Headdress Tutorial | Halloween Costume

When it comes to embodying the fearsome goddess Medusa, it's ALL about the headdress!! In this tutorial I share my headdress secrets for those with a little extra time, and a little extra craft up their sleeves! Many of the items used are from Dollar Tree so this project doesn't break the bank! This made a fantastic Halloween costume! Needless to say I received compliments and praise all night for the effort! Enjoy!!

Medusa spontaneously jumped into my mind today prompting me to research the story leading me to find your Utube video to transform into the fearsome goddess for Halloween. My appreciation of the final-result image prompted me to click & view. I enjoyed seeing the kitties too. Obviously, this project required a lot of time, thus the high-speed visual condensing the real-time into 9.21 minutes was essential. For those of us who are NOT experienced artists, preparation background info would be helpful, such as listing supplies & time needed for the project. I heard you mention your dissatisfaction with the effect of the gold paint. To achieve a rich, bright, shiny finish, I’ve been pleased with “Rust-oleum Metallic.” The glitter effect was fantastic disguising that which was undesirable. Folks might feel more confident in attempting your methods if more details were provided. It’s obvious that you spend considerable time researching & using products to build your knowledge of art media. When it’s essential to condense presentation time, consider placing words on the screen to convey details regarding what’s being used to create the desired effect. Rather than criticizing specific products, state your personal preferences to avoid having to deal with “issues” later. It didn't appear that protective methods were employed to eliminate overspray in your environment, & some may appreciate a heads up. Praising your use of appropriate protection to prevent harmful fumes from entering into the respiratory system. In these times, I encourage everyone to use environmentally appropriate products, especially regarding glitter.

Few questions: Is it easy for it to stay on? Did you use water based spray paint? After you painted them, it looked like you sprayed sealent on it or was it just extra coats? When you added the glitter, is that what was green or was it the green spray color? I didnt know if you sprayed more gold and then added the glitter before it dried. Do you have a tutorial on the way you did your makeup?
