DIY Mercedes parking brake light fixed in 10 mins for zero cost - VSG Ep 44

Is your Mercedes parking brake light staying on and only comes off if you put your foot under the parking brake pedal? If so here's how to fix in 10 mins for no cost. You only need on 8 & 13mm spanner. No need to get underneath and dirty either. A simple fix that you wish you'd done sooner! No more beep beep beep as you drive off.

Does this apply to the Eclass? Just had the guy at the dealership tell me there’s no connection under the backseat and they wanted $660 to replace the parking brake.

I'm not sure on that model tbh. Is it a lever. Footpedal or electronic switch? If Footpedal or lever it will. Be cable and there will be adjust somewhere possible underneath.

I wasn’t going to mention the backdoors but after all the lubrications I have been unable to stop myself. Can we do handbrake turns now ?

Brilliant video, the best on line. I have exactly this problem with my 2005 CLK 240 convertible! However, i am flumaxed as to how to lift the back seat up to get at the inspection panel. They just dont seem to want to budge. I can see the same sort of hinges as in your video but no go! is there a leaver or some sort of catch that needs releasing? Getting frustrated as you made it so simple and practical. Keep up the great work.

At the side of the seat where the seat belt is and a little sort of tray there is a black plastic loop sticking up. Pull this and seat will lift up

@@vintagesteelgarage Thank you so much for taking the time to help. Just been out to the car and for the love of me cant find any loops or mechanism that will release the seats. I managed to lever the RHS passenger seat up about 20 degrees but any more pressure felt like it would snap the hinges. Also, i could see the the plastic part separating the two seats (which houses two vents and a place for a fold down arm rest) was secured by a bolt to the chassis! I presume there will be one on the other side also) I'm sure if I can get to the inspection cover it will ( if I follow your instructions carefully) be the fix. Any thoughts and guidance would be thoroughly and very gratefully accepted. Best, Paul

Spot on advice and walk through, however mine was that loose I nearly ran out of bolt. Thanks man saved me a trip to the garage and the headaches from that bloody beeping

Amazing video. I have exactly this problem with my 2012 Mercedes A Class W169 A160! However, I am unable to lift the floor cover that is sitting under the seat and right above the hand break compartment. This floor cover seems to run all throughout the car. Wondering if I have to cut the small area to expose hand break compartment? Keep up the great work.

Thanks for nice feedback. All models are different for example the clk convertible the lower seat is one piece. Don't cut yours. Do some research and it will show how to access the handbrake. It could even be from underneath.

I didnt have a problem but accessed the handbrake tree and just gave it a clean and greased it up !! So thanx again for highlighting something and motivating me to do some preventative work !!

Not yet Andy, it's a solenoid for the air circulation or heating system. Cheap to buy but needs the complete dash out to replace, So quite labour intense. Might do it later in summer.
