DIY: MINI OWL ORNAMENT | MACRAME OWL TUTORIAL | CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT OWL

Now that all of that is out of the way, lets get to it! Today's tutorial is a mini Owl Christmas Ornament. It can also be used as a keychain, luggage tag, wall decor, the list goes on!
I think it is important to note that my knots are quite tight, and some of these cords got pretty short, so it may be a good idea to cut a few extra inches for each cord if your knots are looser or if your cord is even slightly thicker. Also, the metal ring I used is not necessary, you can use some thin cord, jute twine, yarn, a wooden ring, etc, as a substitute if you prefer.
MEASURES:
HEIGHT: 7in/17cm
WIDTH: 2.75in/7cm

Here is what I used:
1.5in/4cm metal hopp for hanger.
2 x .5in/1cm wooden beads.
3mm braided cord cut to the following lengths:
6 x 40in/105cm
3 x 18in/48cm

@@zaydamontenegro840 Dice qué usó cuerda de 4 milímetros de ancho, 6 cuerdas de 60 pulgadas y 3 cuerdas de 30 pulgadas. 😊 Pero lo qué usó la señora del vídeo en este tutotial usó cuerda de 3 milímetros, 6 cuerdas de 40 pulgadas y 3 de 18 pulgadas. Ojalá qué te allude eso, yo se qué este comentario es de mucho tiempo atrás pero por si las dudas aún te sirva de uso. 😊

I made it thank you for sharing. I did get really short cords and it worried me so I added on just in case but it all worked out in the end. Macrame I have learned to always cut a couple inches more just in case. ✌️

Yes, that’s what I do too!!! There is no way you can get it exactly the same unless you use the exact same cord, and your knots and made as tight or loose, or close together as the other person! I’m so happy to hear it worked out for you!❤️

Oh no way, that’s amazing! I’m so happy the tutorial worked out for you:) I’m in Canada too, although I haven’t sold any of this pattern, (gave them as gifts though, I don’t sell my work much anymore!) I price by paying myself an hourly wage, and then add cost of supplies on top. So if I pay myself $20 an hour and I can make 4 in an hour, then it would be $5 each plus what supplies cost!

I love this! One problem I have is when I have finished doing the bit under the eye, I only have about an inch of cord left but you seem to have plenty! What am I doing wrong, I followed the measurements exactly !

Your cord maybe different from mine! If it isn’t the exact same cord from the same company it most likely is larger and therefor uses up more cord for each knot.

I’m not sure as I have never done it in 4mm and not sure what type or brand of cord you have as each brand, and type vary greatly so I can’t tell you! You will have to experiment and try some lengths!❤️

Unless you are using the exact same cord as I was, and the knot tension and spacing is exactly the same, the lengths will always end differently for everyone, that's why it is important to always cut extra length when following patterns and tutorials, and always read the info in the description. I hope that helps!

I feel positive that the lengths of cords used in above pattern are incorrect. I only have 3mm cord in use and lengths of 105cm are definitely way too short. I even left out some rows of DHH in middle section and still not enough cord. Disappointed

er 40inches is just over 101.5cm not 105cm in any case i found the rope for some reason on the first inner string way to short. must have done something wrong...lol
