@joanne quan Yes, definitely don't bake paper clay because it will melt! The reason I like using it is simply because you can leave it for a few days and it dries on its own. It shrinks a tiny bit when dried but it's barely noticeable.

your works are awesome! i just wanted to ask you... when you were attaching the chocolate filling to the macaron, were the macaron pieces already dry? or did you do it all at once? Won't they deform if you press them together when wet? and also, when the artwork is dry, will it be water resistant or will it get damaged from water?

I wish I watched your video earlier! My first time using paper clay and adding water would have made it so much easier to mould. But it worked out in the end :).
@maqaroon10 жыл бұрын
LadyGaijin92 Thank you! I've heard from other crafters that paper clay isn't always foolproof to work with because it depends how long the clay has been sitting on a shelf. Some suppliers may sell old clay that has already dried out too much so even add water may not fix it. I also work with air-dry resin clay a lot, and I find that adding acrylic paint also softens them up nicely :)

jaycie nguyen Thank you so much! It's a good question, it looks slightly squishy but paper clay actually dries very hard. It's also very tough and won't break easily. I bought my clay from SomethingKawaii.co.uk (somethingkawaii.co.uk/kawaii-deco-padico-clay-c-9_33.html). Unfortunately I think they're sold out of white mermaid puffy, but you can get Hearty Soft which is the same thing :)
@jaycienguyen26539 жыл бұрын

Love it! I have a question, and I hope you can help me (: I bought some paper clay and I would like to know how much resistant it is? I work with polymer clay and I would like to know if you can use it for making whipped cream or something like that... Thank you ^^
@maqaroon10 жыл бұрын
Hi! Paper clay is surprisingly strong when dry so you can definitely use it for making whipped cream as well. You can either push the clay out of a piping nozzle or mix it with a tiny bit of water to make the consistency softer. However the final piece is not as water-resistant as polymer clay so try not to leave it anywhere with high humidity.
@Minicharmsmx10 жыл бұрын
Ok, and would it be ok if I glaze it? Thank you very much for your advices :D
@maqaroon10 жыл бұрын
Minicharms Yes, the glaze will definitely help keep it nicer for longer. However it's important to wait until the piece is completely dry (in my experience at least 5-7 days even for small pieces). Since the clay shrinks as it dries, glazing too early may end up creating cracks.
