I made one similar to this, but instead of using a relief valve to regulate the pressure, I just used a voltage knob (potentiometer) in between the power supply and the pump. I've got it set on about 60 percent. Makes the pump a lot quieter too and probably extends the life. Mine has been running great for a year now.

i am aware its 3 years latter, but man move that pump from the top of that bucket if you want it to be quieter. its acting like drum and amplifies pump noise

The pump is either on or off. The timer itself has it for a minute, minimum to be on. You might want to take a second look at the timer or may have to get a different one.

The most expensive component is the pump and how did you spent 200 bucks if the pump is 25 bucks. I am making a system and it will only cost about 50 (not including power supply and timer because I already have)

Maybe mount the pump to something more stable? Not the "snare drum" bucket lid. I put mine on the concrete floor of my frog room sitting on top of a thick piece of foam but anything similar should work.

Oof that's loud, you weren't kidding. The mistking pumps are the best, which is where most of the cost is. They're quiet and can run dry just in case of a mishap and no water left. Their seconds timer is great too. Starter kit($100-130usd) can run 10 enclosures essentially.

Mounting the pump to what is basically a drum was a mistake. You can wrap foam around the pump and make a little box for it. Or make isolated mounts

When I connect my pump to five misting nozzle the pump runs intermittently and makes a loud 'clacking' sound. From your video I see your pump does the same. Could this burn out the motor if run for some time?

@doprisi

YES, the pump is placed on the lid of the bucket, this will act as an amplifier. Placing the pump suspended by elastic rubber bands or at least on foam will greatly help with the sound in theory :) Ideal, the pump is placed in sound-absorbent material, suspended in a concrete or else heavy mass chamber.

@mosaexotics6587
@mosaexotics6587 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video. The mist I have is a fine one but it depends on the type of nozzles you use. The timer i'm using should be in the description of the video. I go one minute 3 times a day but you can also increase or decrease if necessary. I don't have 50 cages hooked up to my set up but I think it would come close. You can get a stronger pump to be on the safe side.

I think you were stalling your pump. I picked up one of these pumps for a small water injection system on my small turbo car. Mine is set to kick out at 35 psi, but it's adjustable up to 80 psi. With the nozzle I have it should produce a fine mist. I don't need much volume, so a 160 - 200 psi pump was unnecessary. I liked your video.
