Great video. Do you have a p/n for the denco and pump.
@elkbow Жыл бұрын
I took out the Dannco aerator and went with a pump that squirts the water back in from the top and causes aeration. On Amazon look up 'Seaflo-Portable 12v Livewell Aeration Pump System Kit for Boats', it's $39.99. The reason why I took it the Dannco is because it limits pump flow. I imagine you can go with a much bigger one, but they are expensive and the one I was using is what the business guys making these were using. Good luck.

Does the Danco Aerator fit tightly in the tube? (close to water tight?) Or does it matter if water comes in from where it's poking through the side of the PVC? I take it that you want the PVC pipe with the false bottom to be where almost all of the water comes in or does it matter? I built one of these and I did not have the success with the filtration as the pump while inside the pipe is flooded and its circulating the water thats coming in from the hole where the aerator sticks out. So its not pulling as much from the bottom as it should to work properly. Or... Am I totally wrong and it simply doesn't matter?
@elkbow8 ай бұрын
Where the aerator passes through the main pipe needs to be tight and sealed with waterproof silicon sealant. Pay attention to how I have the pipes and heights. All the water needs to come up from the tube that goes to the false bottom, it then overflows in to filters, through the filters and them pumped back through the aerator and in to the tank.

@elkbow thank you! Where did you get the bottom and false bottom? I'm having to use plexiglass that I have laying around that I cut to fit then silicone in place.

Can you show me the entire build , measurements cutting and size of notches at the bottom of 6" PVC pipe
@elkbow11 ай бұрын
Seems a lot of people have questions about the false bottom etc. I'll put something together in the next couple weeks and post it. One thing to remember, make the notches in the bottom of the tube very small so that small bait or dead bait can't be sucked in. Just need to make more to get the proper flow and it doesn't clog up.

Great video.can you tell me how many notches and the size of notches on my 6" pvc pipe .I'm thinking 1/4"wide and 1/4" tall on notches .thanks for video.
@elkbow10 ай бұрын
@@joebradley3532 what you need to be careful of is that the notches are not very big, so put a bunch in. The issue is small dead shad will get sucked through the holes and plug up the tube going up to the filters. The more flow the better.

Where get parts 6in pvc cirlce or drain bottom?
@elkbow Жыл бұрын
I cut off a piece of 6" pvc, cut it up the side, used a heat gun to flatten it out. Then cut out 6" circles, one for the false bottom and one with the holes drilled through it where the filters sit on top of.

Just beside it. That's how the water flows up and goes into the filtration.

That’s what I was thinking, but I wanted to double check. So have you used it with shad in it? Are you satisfied with how it filters? It like it would work really well.
@elkbow Жыл бұрын
@Scott Ranes used many times with gizzard and threadfin shad. I'll be using it again this weekend for threadfin as I'm locating white bass and stripers. Filters great. Gizzard shad are really messy, I put them in a 5 gallon bucket with water first, and a few minutes later, net them from the bucket and put them in the tank.

@@jeffwhiteside1124 the false bottom is a solid piece that just sits about an inch higher than the floor. A hole is drilled thru it for the tube you see in the video.
