Oh don’t trust that lol. They are deck screws. This wood is much thinner than what you would use for making a deck. I had part of the wood split at one part even WITH predrilling.

I debated just making a twin straight away! But it would have been more time consuming and her room is a bit small for it. It would be easy enough to change out the dimensions though!

Why is 6 year old child still useing floor bed? When you're 6 you can easily go in and out of normal bed. I'm not hating, just curious, cos I have no knowledge of this stuff ;)

Are the demintions for a standard crib matress
@ariannapflederer5 жыл бұрын
I did it to our crib mattress whcih is about standard. I don’t know exact standards though so I didn’t compare. But I have used that mattress in a normal crib before and it fits! So I assume it’s a standard crib mattress.

I have a questions were doing a almost similar bed for my daughter how did you get the measurements for your triangle? my bed is 40 inch long cant seem to get the top points to match its so frustrating and my home depot does not cut angles.? Any help or formula i cant input
@ariannapflederer4 жыл бұрын
It took us a long time to figure out the angles, I honestly don’t remember how we did anymore! But I just did a quick search and saw what looked like a lot of helpful videos on KZbin on how to calculate wood angles. I wish we had thought to search KZbin for help when we were doing ours 😂

If you wanted to paint it (I want white) do you just buy the non toxic kid safe paint? Just paint it right onto the wood? Do I have to put a seal paint on it after?
@ariannapflederer4 жыл бұрын
You should probably sand it a bit more if you plan to paint. Then use a toxic low to preferably no VOC paint. Then you would seal it 🙂
@TheJoyfulMom5 жыл бұрын
Can you do a video on how you transitioned into this bed from a crib? I’m considering making one for my 1 year old. Also, what is the purpose of the triangle parts on the top? Is that just cosmetic or is it Montessori related? Looks great!
@ariannapflederer5 жыл бұрын
Like I mentioned, we went straight to a floor bed! So no transitioning. She was in a co-sleeper in our room before this bed 🙂 the triangle is just aesthetic! But they can put play silks over it to make a tent when they’re bigger. My older girls have already done this with it haha. As for the transition, i just laid her down and nursed side lying till she fell asleep at first. Then when she stopped nursing to sleep I would nurse as usual laying down and put my hand on her chest till she fell asleep. And then I started leaving the room after nursing her and letting her really choose whether she wanted to play or go to sleep! She chooses sleep 90% of the time. They may choose play and at first that may mean they decide to fall asleep on the floor once they’re tired. But eventually they understand and climb into their bed when they’re ready to sleep 🙂 it’s all about letting them learn sleep regulation and how to read their own body cues!
@TheJoyfulMom5 жыл бұрын
Arianna. Yes that’s what I was meaning for “transition” so thank you for explaining that! I don’t know if my girl is ready to stop nursing to sleep yet lol! You are such an inspiration to me!

I plan on building the bed exactly the same way you are doing it and I am wondering if the measurements for the side boards are correct. I think that if I cut the side boards at 27.5", the inside width of the bed will be 27.5" minus 3/4" x 2 (for each of the front and back board thickness) = 26". If my mattress is 27.5" wide, will it fit in the bed? I think I should rather have the side boards cut at 29" so the inside of the bed can be 27.5" wide. What do you think?
@ariannapflederer5 жыл бұрын
The mattress used is 27.25 deep. And I cut the sides at 27.5. Her mattress is memory foam through so it has some leeway to it. I would suggest the opening be a least 1/4” smaller than the mattress though for safety reasons. You don’t want any potential gapping at all!

do you know what the sizes would be for a twin bed?
@ariannapflederer5 жыл бұрын
Not the angled pieces no. But you can do the frame easily if you have the dimensions of your mattress. I just account for making the opening 1/4” shorter so it fits snugly.
