I live in Texas. Summers are hot hot 🥵. I can’t keep food of any kind in my bag. So what I did was get sandwich size bags put condiments in it. Salt pepper, mayo , mustard, hot sauce and honey and several paper towels folded up. Then in a separate baggies I put my munchies that can be eaten while walking if I have to. Then in a freezer bag I put my dinners. All of this I keep in a medium to large lunch box/ice chest. Then when I leave home I put those little blue reusable ice blocks in it. So when I leave my car while out and about I don’t worry about the heat. It’s to expensive to replace food because of sitting in a vehicle in 100 degree heat the idea of a do it yourself MRE is fantastic!!!!! The only thing I like in them are the crackers and cheese lolol

This is how I came across your channel, like the idea. I live in Houston, and with hurricanes I need to adult and start putting up supplies for emergencies such as that, along with preparing for SHTF. And I also love using this idea for backpacking/overnighting which I've started getting into. I plan to rotate them out by just taking them to work when needed. LOL, I'm surprised I didn't blow up from my time in the military, and from chowing on my Dad's C-rats when he brought them home from the field as a kid, never thinking about how many calories were packed into them. This is certainly a little bit more healthy alternative, with the right items.

One advantage of packing in the Mylar is I think you can cook in them if needed. I am not sure of that but it seems to me that mountain house is in Mylar.

I use a Jetboil and saw your video of reheating an envelope in boiled water. You can actually cook scrambled eggs in boiling water with a freezer bag, so I imagine you could just mix up the Knorrs pasta or any of the ready to eat stuff and reheat it. May make sense to add a folded freezer-grade sandwich-size bag to the home-made MRE for the purpose of reheating/cooking. Have not tried Mylar yet. Looks great. Do you have a source for mylar envelopes and vacuum sealer?

🤭 you forgot that carrying the extra weight of food makes you tired. If you didn't have to carry all that extra weight you can go a longer distance. ( like a get home bag, you will have to carry bottled water, you can option out on how much your food weight. According to distance likely to travel) like accrost town or another county( 30 min drive can be a 2 day walk,)

I'd like to think, if I'm starving, I wouldn't be a food snob. That beef stew will be ready for me when I need it. Big Macs are gonna be hard to find during shtf. 😊😊😊 Thanks for all these ideas.

any container/pouch foods I vac-pack and then vac-pack the whole meal, I do about 50% MRE's and 50% mAre's (meals ALMOST ready to eat, i.e. instant ) LOL !!!
