Thanks for that tutorial. I bought a few of these a few years back and never did get around to assembling one. I was not sure on what to do with the silver spring and the aluminum foil. What is the spring and foil for ? Is it a shielding of some sort. I am a elderly newbie at this sort of thing.😀

Thank to you =) it's not for shielding, it's for discharging electrostatic charges... although I doubt the effectiveness of these little systems - I install it at 6:50

What if you don't have a precise voltage source for calibrating the voltmeter? Can you use the meter itself to measure the resistance of a high-value resistor then put it in a circuit and measure the current flow through the resistor then calculate the expected voltage drop and use that as your voltage source?

Hi, to calibrate the voltmeter I used my bench power supply, it is very accurate so I would say it is a reliable source.. With the resistor I don't know how precise it can be, consider that they have a tolerance of + - 5%

Due to it having the CE mark, this is illegal. "Rules underlying CE marking Responsibility for CE marking lies with whoever puts the product on the market in the EU, i.e. an EU-based manufacturer, the importer or distributor of a product made outside the EU, or an EU-based office of a non-EU manufacturer. The manufacturer of a product affixes the CE marking to it but has to take certain obligatory steps before the product can bear CE marking. The manufacturer must carry out a conformity assessment, set up a technical file, and sign a Declaration stipulated by the leading legislation for the product. The documentation has to be made available to authorities on request." You applied the sticker. you need to test it that it is compliant.

Hello Peter, The multimeter has the CE mark, so it is compliant to be sold in the European market. It is clearly compliant considering that this is a KIT for hobbyists, and therefore to be self-built. I checked and this KIT is sold on different stores and declared compliant for Italy (the country were I live). I also asked for additional information to Circuit-Pop, the store that sent me this KIT, as soon as I know something I'll let you know. For now, from my research, this KIT is legal for the European market, together with his already assembled version
