It's worth noting that a Poof ball by slinky can be carved out to provide you with a similar effect for a much smaller price if you want to try this out, or make one for a dynamic mic.

I think that the video shows rather dramatically how the Kaotica Eyeball performs in a really poor room environment. The recording was really clear and had excellent quality. The Babe can really sing too. Nice job and it shows that the product can perform!

If you want to up your production game and learn the secrets of how the pros capture great vocal recordings while working in a home studio environment, whether making music or podcasting, here's an awesome little secret weapon. It's called the Kaotica Eyeball. Great little tool you should know about. #Kaoticaeyeball

You can still hear the room on her take with the Kaotica Eyeball. And yes, I know it's because she was standing a few inches away from the pop shield, but it sounded good like that. Better, I think than the dry sound I have heard with voice overs using the Eyeball. In those, the recordings sounded boxed in; not quite muffled, but the mics definitely lose any presence in their recordings. Unfortunately, there's a tradeoff in using something to eliminate noise from recordings, even with innovative products. Though, while it's a useful tool, I think it's a bit overpriced. On the bright side, nice job with the video.

Good points, Joe. Yes you can hear the room a bit. But the idea is that the Eyeball is not supposed to be an anechoic chamber. You can't change the laws of physics afterall. But I think what it does very well is transform otherwise unusable or acoustically undesirable spaces and creates an environment where you can actually make professional recordings. That was the point of this video. And it still doesn't take the place of good engineering knowledge on how to cut a vocal or where to instruct the singer to stand for best results.

JoePenaProductions agreed on the studio booth. The fact is the Eyeball is a great solution for the alt. studio producer, the home recording artist and all who need to transform their non-acoustic treated spaces into workable recording environments where they can achieve professional results. But no, it's not a portable sound proof booth and if you have the option to record in a full blown studio environment with all the other bells and whistles why wouldn't you?.

Personally, I quite like unexpected background noises like street sounds, and all that. It's psychedelic, man. But, it's all down to personal taste, I suppose.

So let me get this straight: You're promoting a microphone that gives you "professional" sound quality in a home recording environment, but you can't seem to locate a microphone to pin on the gentleman in the video, so the only sound we hear of him is from the microphone on the camera that's 15 feet away. Genius. How can anyone take you guys seriously as "professional audio" experts when you do this?

No comparison? Really?

If you mean a comparison between mic with and without the Eyeball it was simply a question of time and holding people's attention while making a point. After editing down the comparison between the two scenarios + the original audio from the camera (iPhone) perspective it just felt too long. I figured I would use the audio from the camera perspective to demonstrate the overall ambient noise in the open room and how much the Eyeball could help eliminate that in a recording. Make sense?
@rorycowieson592410 жыл бұрын
Mark Hermann Fair enough. Yeah I understand that but the iPhone is picking the sound up from a few feet away and the microphone is only a few inches away so the iPhone would pick up a lot more room sound. I'd love to hear how it sounds without the Eyeball and then with. Good video though!
