Professional work... I will use your idea with govee RGB because it gives you more options while choosing the colors side.

One suggestion- glue up the hexagons before painting. White (or carpenters) glue works better on raw wood than a painted surface. The glue penetrates the wood fibers for a stronger joint.
@DanZalinsky3 жыл бұрын
Ah thanks for the tip. The only issue is that I wouldn't want to get any paint on the foam inserts after then are attached to the hexagons. I could just tape over the cut surface when painting or staining.

Cool project. What is the size of the cutout plates?

Hey great job. just one question. wouldn't making the groove before you cut the pieces be easier? or maybe it would not work for some reason? Again great job.
@DanZalinsky2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I found it easier to cut the groove after. Thats because when you are cutting the angles on each piece you have to flip the would to cut the next angle. This would be messed up if the groove were on one side.

Great job I am working on the idea in my mind right now I think I am going to use the Govee RGBIC and possibly put a back on it with a reflective something ??? I am going to use a router for the groove. Been debating on 4 or 3.5 inch sides ?
@DanZalinsky3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah there are a million things to do with these lights. You’re going to make the hexagonal lights? Or a different design?

Amazing Work! I have just one question. Which groove cutter size for the router (where the LEDs go through) did you take. I build it based on your tutorial for my school project.
@DanZalinsky3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I used a 3/4" router bit. Seemed to work out just fine.

The plates look plsstic...what kind are they, plastic or styrofoam? Love the video.
@DanZalinsky3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they were just styrofoam plates. I looked at different plastics first. But I saw videos of others using styrofoam plates and they looked the best and were the cheapest. Thanks!! 😎

How thick is the saw blade that you used for the groove to put the styrofoam plates in? THX

The blade was 1/8" thick.

why not cut the groove first, and then make those 4 inch pieces? Seems to me that is way faster.

How did you get the wires in the wall? and where did you connect the adapter, on the other side of the wall! Or did you do electrical work?
@DanZalinsky3 жыл бұрын
I just drilled a hole through the wall and ran the wire through the ceiling. The adapter is behind one of the lights. I have an outlet in the drop ceiling so I just plugged it into that.
