Great video! I have looked at the Sun Joy gazebos for a. couple of years and your video is a LOT more helpful than the online instructions. I only wish you would have spent some time talking about to best way to anchor these gazebos. Yours sits on a very flat deck. But what if we are looking at other surfaces? Do they require footings? How do you keep them from becoming fancy sailboards in high winds…you know, these kind of questions. Maybe you can do a follow up video?
@SolitaryMaverick2 жыл бұрын
A lot of people are asking about anchoring down the Gazbo. Yes, you definitely want to anchor it into concrete with wedge anchors or it will blow away in high winds. I don’t know if Washington has high winds so maybe he did not need to anchor it to the deck. In my state the winds would rip that out of the deck.
@beezer5623 Жыл бұрын
I would also mention about starting with a level surface. For me i have a flag stone patio that has a pretty decent pitch to it for drainage. 100% if I put this up the back left would nee to be raised up a few inches. there would be various solutions to this obviously.

Turned out great! Love the look, and assembly didn't seem too overwhelming. I've been wanting to buy something like this, but where I live (out in the middle of the CA desert). I still haven't figured out a way to secure something like this to the ground, without having to pour a concrete pad. Our winds are fierce, and nothing to take lightly. A friend built his own, but used some type of deck, or foundation block, and buried them. Should note that his does not have roofing panels, just joists, so I don't know how much of a difference it makes, when it comes to the wind, and the way it is secured to the ground. ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎

Im really interested in purchasing the 13x15. It looks like this is sold under many names and brands. Sunjoy, Costco, Waiyfair, Amazon. Thing is, some say cedar but others say spruce. Some day ceder but then in the image slides it says spruce. The long beams look weak. That is not a very stiff beam. A 2x6 solid ceder would be better. Im torn between buying this, or building my own. But it would cost me WAY more than $2200 to build a 13x15 solid cedar copy. And I would have to build the roof. We've been using coleman canopys - the most durable ones weve found. Two destroyed in rainstorms so far :(
