Beautiful work. You may want to add a tiny plastic foot to the bottom of each corner. It will lift the wood from the cement and add years to your creation by allowing rain to completely drain off. Well done.

Beauty stuff! No table saw, no jointer, no planer, no 100k power tools. Just simple and well-built table.

You’re gonna laugh, but I’m going to make the chevron tabletop out of pressure treated 2x6 leftover from a deck build. I’m going to get the contrasts from different colored stains. And then polyurethane the heck out of it. I’m thinking I need to wait 3 or 4 months for the pressure treated lumber to dry out, run it through the planer and see what happens. I need to thank my wife for the idea. Instead of commenting on the replacing of the crumbling 20 year old deck, her first comment was, “What’s that pile of wood for?” (Being a natural born liar, I quickly came up with- “Two 8 foot tables that can join when your family is in town.” The Chevron style is all thanks to you and this video. Thanks for posting it. Just great work!)

Aww. All the videos I've seen so far are you creating something for your parents. They're lucky to have such a helpful and generous daughter. I would love a indoor coffee table like this but I haven't used power tools since the 8th grade so Idk if I'll be able to do such a amazing design.

Turned out nice. Since you glued it, I would suggest flipping the top stretchers so the pocket holes are covered by the top if you wanted to be sneaky with the hiding.
@diyhuntress
@diyhuntress 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The reason I didn’t do that is because I wanted to avoid having any water accidentally pool in any of the pocket hole openings if it were to seep underneath the boards. I know I glued them, but I still get so paranoid with outdoor projects. 🙈

I didn`t intend to make use of this woodworking book, t.co/SGIXIPXR0z but rather curious about it. I had been truly amazed right after trying it. It never disappointed me in my wish to acquire more information about the art of wood working. Many topics were covered, including everything from wood types to developing your workshop.?

Very nice job! If the cedar doesn’t last as long as you would like, soak the ends in waterproofing for 3 minutes. The USDA- Forestey did a study and that’s all it takes to properly seal the ends. I absolutely love the burning technique, again great job,

I came across your channel completely by watching the video on the sliding door, which also looks great. I plan to get into woodwork soon and thanks to you, I already have two projects on hold;). Hi, I am in the process of making an outdoor coffee table very similar to this. Thanks for the inspiration. I have made the frame and done the burning and have a quick question. I am a bit concerned about wood movement as I live in the UK and the weather changes more often than I change my mind. Have you noticed any problem by gluing the boards to the frame? I am wondering if they would split over time? I am also thinking of securing from the bottom to hide any fasteners and not sure whether to just put one screw in the middle or 1 at either side to prevent any cupping. Keep up the good work, just subscribed :)

Hi! I feel you on the weather. 🙈 No problems at all! It’s been out for a while too! In fact, the only thing I had to do maintenance wise for this piece was give it a light sanding a new coat of sealer this summer! Good luck with your project - so happy you’re here!
