good idea. I really like that.

You can have the drain amount of water greater than the amount of water the return pump put back into main tank and it will always stabilize.. An overflow will only occur if the return pump sends more water back into tank than drain can keep up with. ( like a lost siphon after power comes back on ) Many years of buying and building sumps, along with much studying/and asking experienced sumpers taught me that. Your on a good track

@dezadstorm Well, with the overflow I have, the only thing you can do is have adequate waterflow. My 20 has two koralias on it and that is pretty ample and do a good job to keep everything moving with the exception of one or two deadzones behind the rockwork. If you have proper water flow, good CUC, and a good skimmer debris shouldnt be a big issue. I haven't seen an overflow that collects at the bottom actually come to think of it.

once the water line drops underneath the slits on the overflow the siphon will stop draining and then when the power turns on, the pump will repump the excess water to refill the overflow which should then start back up

Can this style of overflow be enough for a 800 gph? I've been reading that it can not?
@aerospot27 жыл бұрын
I would assume given proper size plumbing, it should be able to.
@teezy_s6 жыл бұрын
2" pipe with suited return pump would work fine for 800gph

What did you do that stops it from flooding in a power outage?
@FreeSwimmer7 жыл бұрын
When the water level drops below slits it cannot alow anymore water into sump ( make sure there is ample space for that in sump ) When power returns it will pump water back out of sump into main tank and when reaching the DIY weir teeth it will flow back into sump.. Clockwork as long as drain is more water than return. If return is more it will overrun drains ability.. If drain is more it will only alow enough water into sump to meet the return pumps demand.. Physics
