DIY Painted Vase Tutorial - Transform a Vase Into a Piece of Aged Pottery with Baking Soda & Paint!

Hi guys! In todays video I have another painted vase tutorial for you! In the fall I shared my first baking soda and paint tutorial to give your decor a flat matte, textured finish. Today I wanted to transform a glass vase to look aged and worn and like a piece of pottery or a ceramic urn.

This project was super easy. All you need is a glass vase or any glass decorative object. Some Plaster of Paris, acrylic paint or any paint you would use on your walls works too and some baking soda!

Lovely. Basic wall paint costs upwards of $80.00 these days. I'm using a really cheap paint that does have pva in it, and it's working a treat. Cost under $20.00.

Quick tip, I have found that if you use a rough grit sandpaper to scratch up the glass and then use a spray primer & let it dry before doing the plaster of Paris…it won’t slid off once you go in with paint. It just helps to have something which is not a perfectly smooth surface the way glass it for the plaster and paint to hold on to.:-)

I want to create clay handles to mount on glass vases that I have painted with acrylic. Can mount the handles on acrylic and if so, how? Thank you. Loved your video

Roll out the air dry clay to the size you want. Then add a small amount of water onto the end of each side, then place it on the vase. You can also make a ‘slip’, which is just watered down clay. It’s what real potters use to attach clay to clay. Press the handles into the vase firmly and let it dry well.
