Thanks Mary! I feel like a hoarder of those windows, lol! I'm sure i'll never use them all but they are too great to let go! I can't wait to go to my friend's home to see how she hangs the dark wood ones. I LOVE my white set, but her home is so beautiful I know these will be great for her home's style too. I'll try to post a pic of them up on my facebook page when she shares.

I just recently got an old vintage window but I'm not sure how to clean it. I like that it's white and chippy so I don't want too much of the paint to come off. I haven't tested it for lead paint yet but I read some of those tests don't really work. Would you recommend I seal the paint with something like a polycrylic or is it safe to just leave it alone if I'm just using it for decor? I just don't really know much about the vintage stuff lol 🙈
@TheDailyDIYer8 жыл бұрын
Mine is not sealed, and I'm not sure if it has lead paint in it either, but it is up and away and it doesn't chip and flake off so I haven't worried about it too much. I think if it's flaking a lot and hanging where those chips could make it into food or little one's hands, then I'd probably seal it. Like you said, polycrylic if you are worried about it. That's what I would use too.

What do you use to hang up the shutters?

I used a saw tooth picture hanger, the kind you just hammer in. If you'd like something more secure I like to use D rings that are made for hanging things (and are also located with the picture hanging hardware)

Thank you!! I've been making wood projects for about 2 years now. I do have an etsy shop! I don't put much on there, but me and my mom share a Facebook page where I put a lot of my work. Etsy: www.etsy.com/shop/crossinmyheart Facebook: www.Facebook.com/HeartToHeartStudios
@chelle7_myblueeyeddog8 жыл бұрын
Do you mainly do requests and referrals? I was thinking about opening an Etsy shop but it will probably be too expensive to ship. thinking I might see if an antique store would make a deal with me. I do mine free hand/tracing. I don't have the patience for circut even though I love the look.
@TheDailyDIYer8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have built up a client base over the years. I've had a registered small business for about 9 years now. Client orders keep my busy enough. I wish I could free hand. I have nice handwriting, but painting is a whole different ball game. Shipping is the whole reason I don't put a lot on my Etsy. Signs are too big and too heavy. I do have my items in 3 shops though. That seems to go good. My advice, don't pay rent. I've done that several times too. If you an work a % split, that's the way to go.
