Liked and subbed as I fig the model A and the hat lol! Was going 2 build from metal, though really like ur idea much better. What is the length of pvc gor ur handle? I realize they can vary, though urs looked comfy to use. Thnx again for taking the time to help so many if us🙂

Holy cow someone finally commented on the Model A after 20k views !!!! That thing has quite the story, it's. 1931 my great grandfather purchased it in the 40's for $75 then in the early 90s sold it to my grandfather on the other side of the family for $1000. And now it was willed to stay with my brother, father and I. Motor had been rebuilt and has 83000 miles !!! The handle supports are about 25" when building they ended up this length so I would only use one stick of pvc

As I watched, I wondered if you would use 45° elbows to narrow the handle like most commercial compost & lawn spreaders. Then I saw you kept the handle full width; brilliant! Less work, fewer materials, greater rigidity, better usability, and balance. If you were to cut the wire with a few inches of overlap and only stapled 2/3 of the circumference, then used scrap innertubes (or exercise bands) on both sides, you could avoid cutting the door completely and have the full width to add your peat and compost.

So I built mine using 19 gauge 1/2" hardware cloth. It shredded the cloth the first use. Disgusted I hung It up in garage until a couple days ago. I bought 3 x 5 ft of #13 1/2" x 3/4" hole stamped steel mesh from local steel dealer. It's been a CHORE getting it installed. Razor sharp..will cut u to pieces! Anyway finally got it all done and added some extra 1/8" flat steel and some corner braces for reinforcement. It's truly built like a tank now. Gonna try compost again later this fall.

The company I buy top soil from wants to rent it mine and split the profits. The added plus is not having to store the thing!
