Cutting front fork base is an issue of structural integrity. 100kmph on this bike(this bike can do it easily) might lead to a disaster. Also the disc plate is not welded properly. It should be welded for the whole circle for better strength. But the concept is good. Appreciate the thought and work 👍👍👍 Hope in future companies would introduce conversion kits 👍👍👍

Good modification, but concerned about cutting front fork to increase the spacing is a safety concern. Also, the battery and speed/charge controller needs better cooling. Lastly, the charging point at the bottom is very impractical and dangerous in wet rainy seasons.

I agree. Not only the forks but also the brake disc. Maybe it would be better to do this on a wire spoked wheel, or any way that doesn't mess up with the original parts. Plus the electrical components don't look waterproof. But still an interesting project.

@sayujraphael
@sayujraphael 2 жыл бұрын
The concept as a whole is really good, but a couple of points of concerns are there, like the Cutting of the front fork, changing to a wider fork would be a better option, and the same with the disc brakes, should have upgraded the calipers to match the rotor that came with the wheel, One more potential safety hazard are the batterys, Li Ion batteries need cooling, there are chances for the batteries getting really warm inside that box and potentially cause a fire, same with the BMS ,it also needs some sort of cooling.

@TheLazyWandererMys
@TheLazyWandererMys 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts, the cutting of the forks is a major concerns as it is a stress point and the strength is cut by half. Second thing is the Disc itself, those welds are not strong enough, the least you could do us weld the complete thing as the torque exerted at those joints could turn out to be near fatal. The Batteries need cooling, since liqui cooling isnt an option, may be make a heat sync of sorts? Not sure how much it will help though. The project is not as crude as it thought it would be, in fact I am quite impressed by it. Kudos to the team who got it working. I understand the thought process behind the choices/compromises made during the project but the concerns need to be addressed before you use the bike regularly as it could be potentially dangerous.
@Killianwsh
@Killianwsh 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheLazyWandererMys Actually the fork will fail much more easily than if it ONLY had 50% of it's orig. strength! Front forks of motorcycles & bicycles are not designed to resist the additional torque that a hub motor generates! If he is, actually getting anywhere near the 2000w figure he's stated out of that motor, I'd wager that fork WILL FAIL, as if it only had 10-15% of it's orig. metal left.

Amazing job on the conversion,. In my opinion, the only area of concern is the handling and managing of Lithium batteries. Cooling is required and I didn't see in the video installing of temperature sensor. The batteries will cook in the box with the amount of insulation present. Im not an expert, just commenting based on other youtube videos on lithium cell connection and management,. Once again great job on the conversion. I dont think anyone else can pull it of what you guys have done here.

Firend....first of all.. Congratulations for successful E-bike conversion. I saw complete vid since I own same bike(220cc2013). I have maintained it pristinely. I am not engineer but I would like to suggest 3 things. 1) Front shocks must be parallel to each other all upto lower axle bolt, no matter how you install bldc motor. 2) just above or in front of radiator there is good space for mounting controller. 2)like someone said...u can split battery pack or for better looks mount second box removing sari guard. Controller also can be fitted in this box. Kindly make arrangement for ventilation in battery box for cooling with protection from water in mind. Use primer before painting metal sheet. Do not use nylon cable ties for securing power cables...they will break.(Own experience) Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.

I would be so confident with that itty bitty of welding that has been performed to that front disk due to so much pressure that front disk brake performes...it needs more welding to asure that disk doesnt loosen up or break because theres not enough welding done to it...but other than that the rest of the installation and the small mods was awsome perfect.😁👍

Fantastic video . Never seen such innovative idea with so much perfection . Well done . Hope this is introduced in market as a kit for many bikes Just few things . 1.How are you managing heat dissipation of battery as it’s very enclosed 2. Is it ignition controlled ? 3. Does the battery charge itself while riding it on petrol ? 4. How is the steering experience as it’s front wheel drive while on electric ? 5. Any safety concerns you think it has to be addressed ? 6. How is the theft control set for this ?

So, my question is can we charge the battery by driving with the petrol engine? For example, i drove with Electric motor for say, 40Km and then i switch to petrol engine and drive. Will the battery get charged by driving so that i can use electric motor again when petrol is almost over? It would be great if that's so. Just my intuition.

@@grgr1831 it increases the efficiency . Since a 9 AMPS battery gets charged in 10-12 minutes RUN on a Avenger 180 CC, 2006 Model. So if a person is riding at any speed with RPM above 1800 for 1 hour it will charge a 35 AMP battery in 1 hour, means Double the Mileage with the HUB motor installed. Or if a DIY alternator kit be installed, with bigger coil and same size magnet.

It's possible but it'd require a boost converter. Probably simpler to use the existing regenerative braking function of the controller. I wonder which method would be more efficient. I imagine the type and quality of boost converter would be a significant factor.

Also lot of petrol can be saved if the breaking was done by motor.. The disc plates will not burn if we transfer speed of bike into motor ,inorder to stop ...motor will charge battery ..in motor braking...this logic can be made practical...👍

Very nice job done. I've been thinking about that for a long time. It was great to see your work today. Those who travel a short distance within the city will be able to use the battery power, again if they have to go on a long trip or run out of battery then there will be an opportunity to use petrol. Many thanks for giving us such a wonderful work.
