DIY PINTREST ANKARA MAXI SKIRT (DASHIKI OR ANGELINA FABRIC)

If you have been sucked into the pintrest Ankara craze like me, then you have certainly seen this beautiful print in the form of maxi skirts, dresses, shirts and rompers. Instead of fantasizing about them I decided to make one. The fabric costs around $25 for 6 yards at African boutiques or markets. So stop fantasizing, go get one and follow this tutorial so you can make your own Dashiki (Angelina) Maxi Skirt.

What does the interfacing do there? Does it keep the waist smooth? I really want a stiff fit there.

@@Shesgrownup all depends on what interfacing that you're using. Some are stiffer and other. But usually the ankara material are pretty stiff but if you want a stiffer fit then go for the interfacing

Thank you. Making skirts or clothing for others is something I will definitely do sometime down the line. At this moment I want to learn how to sew using myself as a dress form and inspire others to do the same. I want others to know that anyone can sew or do anything they want as long as they have the thought and put the action behind it.

For a beginner that was excellent however I would like to know and I hate to toot my own horn but I have great legs I would like to put a split in the skirt do you know how to do that if so could you please do a tutorial on putting a front split or a side split in the dashiki skirt.
