The brine shrimp will need light and be at room temp, I used to hatch mine under my tropical aquarium light and on top of my tank for the heat, always had success with this.

They look to be 2-3 week old fry, brine shrimp is the way to go, I put about a tea spoon into a jar that size, need a bright lamp 24/7, and if you can 24 - 26 c, brine shrimp for 5 weeks, then intruduce very fine powdered high protein food, overlap with the brine shrimp on week 4, it will be interesting to see how they turn out, very best wishes, Tony, Farmoor Koi.😀

PS, I meant tea spoon of salt, and a bout 1/2 tea spoon of brine shrimp eggs, and you need at least 3 lots on the go overlapping, so you have a continuous supply, good luck😀

Thanks for this advice! Really appreciate it when people take the time to help. Hopefully I can learn from these two fry and next year be able to produce some nice fancies!

Goldfish and Koi breed like rats! If you left that in there, it would probably be fine, even in the cold. Especially true if you dont go mad with the pond cleaning over winter. Same as you, I leave watercress in there year round so they can munch on it as they want to.

Ok this is good to know! I thought it may very quickly get too cold and to give them the best chance I’d separate them. Thanks for your comment. Im looking forward to seeing what they turn into!

@@fatheadedfish The only to be mindful of is predation. Having said that, my medaka spawn every year amongst shubunkin and a couple of koi and I seem to have more every year.
