I also use this process for making lemon,strawberry, and chocolate. I let the plaster dry for at least 5 days. depending on project. I also use it and pour into large bundt cake,jello mold. Also into a silicone gingerbread mold and use the grungy affect. Very primative look. It's all so much fun. Again Thankyou for sharing all your talent and detailed how to.

I’m so happy..making two right now. Working on the crust. One for me and one to give away. I would love to try and figure out how to make a pecan pie to go with it! Thank you for your wonderful videos!! I used to make a lot of fake bread and pies back in the eighties, out of salt dough, when my kids were small… missed it so much. Good therapy to keep my mind less “busy” :)

I can't wait to use your grunge on crust rather than using all acrylic paints. So excited and have pies all cured to do this.

You can paint the dry plaster with Matt mogpodge before painting so it won’t absorb the paint.

I made this faux pumpkin pie...I had some trouble with the air dry clay but I just kept on persisting. It took me just over a week to make but in the end it turned out so incredibly realistic looking...It looks amazing in my Mother's kitchen.

I made a batch of POP to fill one of 4 crusts that I made the day before. Success. Then I thought.. make a triple batch of POP to fill the rest. Bad idea. The POP started hardening as I was stirring and ended up throwing it out. Lesson learned...fill one pie at a time. 😂😜🤪

I have used dollar tree white caulk in a piping bag as the cool whip stars around the edge to cover the crack where the plaster has pulled away from the side of the pan.

Hi! I love all your ideas! I have a question. If you covered that plaster with a light coat of some kind of matte sealer before you start painting, do you think that would help the paint from soaking in so much? Just curious!

The cheap cinnamon from the dollar store or bulk bins tend to have thickener added that helps this process.

The Plaster of Paris you sure do have to work fast. For the pie you have to use 4 cups of plaster and 2 cups water. Sometimes I will add just a little more water. Live in Florida and humidity makes a differance.

Tracey if I am going to sew an item… say a tree shape, do you recommend grunging it before the shape is cut out of the fabric or after it is sewed and stuffed? I’m new to all of this but I love anything that looks vintage, so glad I found your channel because I can now create to my hearts content. Thank you.

My air-dried clay *crust* cracked several times, but I kept filling with wet clay. The Tim Holt vintage photo turned my crust gray when it dried! 😱 The Plaster of Paris part went perfectly! I have it on display. Just wished I knew how to correct my crust color! 😊
@madeira51502 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem with the clay cracking...but I also had trouble with the crust breaking off at some of the edges. I finally resorted to white glue and that filled in the cracks just fine and held the crust together. I went over the crust with the grunge mix after the vintage photo and the color turned out great I hope that helps with your crust color.

I think if you would use a small wire whisk you could get it done a lot quicker when you're mixing the plaster pairs I'm just saying cuz I've done a lot of that and it seems the wire a little while with you can get them at the dollar store and it works a lot better
@donnatoland47562 жыл бұрын
I just discovered your channel your ideas are super cute very primitive fun to do and I love watching these videos but I also I have things I have to do I think maybe if there wasn’t so much yammering we might be able to get these videos cut down in time because I’m finding that I am literally skipping a lot through your videos just to see what the outcome is I don’t want us to come off as being mean, but in real time I can’t get through a video because I have things I have to stop and go do when my brakes are only like 20 minutes long and then I forget to come back and finish watching it anyway it’s kind of sad because I want to watch these videos but like I said I don’t have time maybe make some shorter videos for people like me who don’t have almost a whole hour to invest in learning your tutorials

I wonder if the vanilla would draw bugs
@alexisstarr222 жыл бұрын
I wondered the same thing but I legit made this just like she did and I even made the coffee grunge mix and within a week, my pie had fuzzy mold on it, I'm guessing from the coffee grunge mix. Just goes to show you that you don't use food items or especially anything like vanilla or coffee on craft items. I 100% do not recommend following this tutorial. If you do, you may want to use a clear coat over the entire thing and make sure you get the clear coat 100% over the entire thing or your pie will grow mold.
