Soon will post full feature of how to make those with carbon skinning

Hi Stuyo, The M3 Bore x 30mm Structural struts you linked to on Aliexpress are not fully threaded inside to the center, so M3 X 16mm countersunk screws will not screw in all the way. For now I'm using m3 countersunk screws with a philips head but the strut can spin easily as its not screwed tight enough. Thank you for your awesome tutorial, I can't wait to finish this project.

Thanks, mate! The ones that hold the structure + side mounts + alu washers are 16mm, but yes, you are correct. For the central pivot next to magnet arms I used something shorter and also if you skip the alu washers 16 is just too long ;)

this is awesome, really liked your explanations of the previous iterations. Maybe will build it myself some time soon, still working getting a printer set up here. great work!

Thanks mate! I am really happy with it, use it more than the full size sequential as I am faster this way in the Leagues WRCG racing. Make sure you build the latest 2.5 version (same link), it is dialed in with short throw and little stronger feel. There is update video on it in the channel. Hope you enjoy the shifter, I tested metal commercial ones and it is quite close. Most of the flex comes from the mount bracket, not the shifter assembly itself.

Hey man, great design and guide! Perhaps i missed it though, did you mention where to buy the RJ12 cable and specifically how to wire the switches? Thanks!
@57uyo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Cable i crimped myself, you can buy whatever 6wire RJ12 cable and cut it. Wiring is here (very simple), maybe i should write short guide 🤪 : github.com/juanmcasillas/Fanashifter

I think I've spotted another mistake. The Screws for attaching the paddle to the QR are M3 x 12mm in the video. These are too short for me at least so used the M3 X16MM, these stick out by 2mm so M3 X 14MM would be perfect and would be flush.

This looks absolutely awesome. I want to make it but could you tell me the overall height from base to paddle so i can see if it will even fit my setup?
@57uyo Жыл бұрын
I am not home these two weeks and deleted my measurement photos. As far as I remember it was 10cm base to top. You can always mount the shifter body horizontally and it will be much less, either way for your base most probably you will need different mounting solution.

hi, beautiful project, i`m building it, but it seems that is missing one side of the mounting bracket, is it possible, or i`m doing something wrong?
@57uyo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Not sure which bracket but they are the same - just mirror it in the slicer, it should be there. I can check later if everything is in the file.

Do you have a video showing how to wire it to a USB controller? Thanks mate, great video and great idea!
@57uyo11 ай бұрын
Thanks! No, mine is wired directly to Fanatec wheelbase. It is only two switches and they can be wired easily with gamepad usb module, arduino with SimHub, etc.
@Tguedes9811 ай бұрын
@@57uyo I'm thinking of wiring it to an arduino pro micro! I have some doubts tho... 🤔 What gauge wire should i use? What arduino board? And where should i solder the wires? Thanks mate
@57uyo11 ай бұрын
@@Tguedes98 no worries. It is signal, wires can be thin. Soldering depends on code - one is GND, the other will be termination on the pins you set as buttons. Pro Micro is good choice as it has USB driver like gamepad.
@Tguedes9811 ай бұрын
@@57uyo i know i have to wire it to ground and one to signal, somewhere on the board! But do I have to code anything for it to work? Or will my pc recognize it has gamepad?

Really nice work! Do you reckon it is going to work on console? Thank you!
@57uyo10 ай бұрын
Thanks! I connected mine directly to SQ2 port on the wheelbase, it uses native Fanatec protocol and should work on consoles as well.
@letsgobrandon6545 Жыл бұрын
Interesting but not clear where do you plug this, kinda need some expansion board I guess?
@57uyo Жыл бұрын
It has two switches, you can interface however you like. I connected it to my Fanatec base with cable - all details in the Fanashifter project on GitHub (think i put a link)

Dude has like 5 things that show shift change
@57uyo Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I overdid this a little ;) In WRC games I mainly rely on engine sound actually for shift indication, rarely use the blinking displays. The only real one I need is the Gear indicator, use both the LED matrix one and the DDU for rally games.

One final Question, which angle are you using for the QR? Which do you find is best? Thanks!
@57uyo Жыл бұрын
Hmm, not so sure but I think 30. In my situation it worked best to have the paddle slanted towards the steering wheel. Smaller angles are for putting paddle further right, 45 believe I never used.
