I'm building something just like this your video is very good. I have a 44-in slider going out with the fridge on top and considering a bottom. Another slide out for cooking area etc

I have been planning such a construction for a long time, only the guides are expensive, because I am planning a similar construction, but under Packout, there will be 2 boxes with drawers on one drawer, i.e. 8 or 10 in total, and unfortunately, I have a family van 💪 nice job 👍👍💪💪

Nice work, would you tell me, what us the mix ratio of the paint/hardener. Thanks
@4X4Carpool3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have heard of guys using different ratios to get different textures. I don’t know the ratio, but I just followed the exact measurements that Upol recommends.

Intresting ideas and plan. Question...No paint, primer or sealant in those holes?
@4X4Carpool4 жыл бұрын
I did spray some VHT roll bar and chassis on the holes in the body. But nothing on the holes on the wood platform.

I dig the CAD work (“cardboard” aided design). Super smart to mock stuff up first, just to be safe. Awesome build. Thanks for taking the time to share. You just got a new subscriber.

So 18mm Baltic Birch in 51.5" x 60" did the trick? I was considering getting a 4 x 8 sheet but I like the fitment on yours if thats the dimension you used. Might have to go to the lumber yard.

I like the mounting plate idea. When I built my drawers I used the factory tie down bolt holes to mount it in the truck, so essentially the same concept.

Sweet set up! Being from Idaho, I love my partner steel 22” stove, it’s the best stove there is and made in Pocatello, Idaho. I also love my Coleman gas stoves. I’m going to have to look into this slider setup!

Thank you. The partner steel stove is for sure the best stove I have ever owned. But I also still have my Coleman sitting at home, can’t get rid of it. Haha

Oh just a note, most folks leave the underside unlined. Water can get into the plywood from holes or any "thin" areas that weren't 100% covered by the bed liner or any paint spray, but it'll be harder to completely dry since there's only that one spot that's uncovered. If you leave the bottom largely uncoated, it dries out fast.

Great set up and the quality of the SoCal looks good but... Why didn't you build a cabinet box, install extended glides for a grill slide out tray and mount the refrigerator slide system you already have on top of the grill cabinet box?
@ThePearfish3 жыл бұрын
How did you attach the fridge to the slide?
@4X4Carpool3 жыл бұрын
The fridge had 4 feet that would screw into the bottom. I tossed those feet, drilled holes in the slide and bolted it from the bottom.

I need to find out how tall the slider / frig setup is. Also, how is the frig connected to the slider?
@4X4Carpool4 жыл бұрын
I will get the measurements for you tomorrow. The bottom of the fridge originally had 4 feet that screwed in, I removed them. Then used the threads to bolt it onto the slider from underside of the slider up into the bottom of the fridge.
@4X4Carpool4 жыл бұрын
The slide is 5.5” tall, the slide and fridge are 25.5” tall

i'm curious to see your thoughts on this setup now that you've had it in for a while. it would seem that the fridge is too high to access, are you thinking of adding a lowering kit, or do you just use a step stool?
@4X4Carpool3 жыл бұрын
It’s high, but not high enough where it’s a problem for me. My son or I have to help my wife sometimes with stuff at the very bottom of the fridge. The bumper does have a responsibly sized area that we can step up onto. No plans to change the height, we love the way it is.

Man! Awesome build! I am planning a similar build myself and stumbled across yours. What were the rivnuts or T-nuts you were referring to during the video? Did you find these at home depot? Raptor liner turned out fantastic! Looks exactly like goose gear without the price tag!
@BlueLabelDrinker4 жыл бұрын
Nice build! I’m trying to figure out something similar for my Ex (while keeping the third row). Question: did the rivnut locations require you to drop the tank again? Thanks!
@4X4Carpool4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. In the rear there are 4 holes in the body for the cargo tie downs. I drilled those out to make them larger and add 2 more. They are in a location where you do not have to drop the fuel tank.
@Legendsofthelawn3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Was looking at goosegear, but Im not a millionaire. I wanted something in the rear of my Excursion for mounting. And this really hits the spot! Thanks so much for the ideas! I know what ill be doing when the weather turns nicer. How much raptor liner did you use?
@4X4Carpool3 жыл бұрын
No problem, happy to help!! I used 1 quart on the bottom and 2 quarts on the top and edges. The link in the description is the kit I purchased, it came with 4 quarts and the spray gun. Purchase some acetone before you start, that way you can clean the spray gun when you are done.

wouldn't it have been better to predrill everything, then paint the"Raptor Liner" on the board? REASON. If you don't seal the holes water/moisture can get in and ruin the wooden platform....
@4X4Carpool4 жыл бұрын
Very possible, but I’m not worried about because the holes are covered by the hardware. I’ve spilt water and have had a toilet leak very gross stuff and no issues yet
