I made this kind of top to toe wash for my kids since they have mild eczema, but I found that oil and surfactant seemed to be contraindicative towards each other. Still better than most baby shampoo. Then I experimented again, replacing oils with Flaxseed (as it is a water based moisturizing agent), resulting in a way better shampoo. It suds and moisturizing at the same time

Crothix is expensive! I bought 32oz recently to use for its intended purpose.. thickening my body washes and shampoos! But, if I have to use 4% to get my surfactants to thicken with it.. it's not worth it! ill just use xanthan gum + guar cat and I'll call it a day.

@@YayaDIYCreations not really. I made another shampoo and tried the electric whisk and that was slightly foamy as well. However whisking by hand gav much better results. Could it be because of the surfactants I use... Decyl glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine?

@@annemarie7066 This happened to me when I made a formula for my own conditioner but this is what I did. Can you let us know if this formulation separates over time? I made my first emulsified shampoo last month and it separated. My oil to emulsifier ratio was fine. I'm thinking maybe it's because I added a little peppermint EO but not sure
@YayaDIYCreations
@YayaDIYCreations 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. So far, so good. What type of emulsifier did you use? You may need more stabilizers or use less oil. Also, cationic & anionic surfactants will work against each other. One conditions and one removes dirt & oil. I hope this helps.

@@YayaDIYCreations Ah! Good point! I used BTMS-25 which is cationic. I'll check to see if the primary surfactant used was anionic or non-ionic. And I used a very small amount of shea (which might be too heavy for a shampoo) Thanks for responding!

@YayaDIYCreations
@YayaDIYCreations 2 жыл бұрын
85 to 95% of this formula would be considered natural or naturally-derived. There are different definitions for natural in the formulating community, so it’s hard to say. Regardless of which product you use, preservatives are not natural. Not even the ones that claim to be “natural”. So, most shampoos are not completely natural. I hope this helps.
