I’ve been using the overtone vibrant color line for about a year. In my experience the best way to get the most intense color saturation is to really coat the hair where it looks like you have almost applied too much product. Since it is a coloring conditioner you need enough product to make up for the absorption that’s going to be happening. I’m about to Start transitioning to brown hair soon. Hopefully those colors are as good as the vibrant line.

I love overtone but I have blond hair and it stays in my hair if I take good care of it for a few weeks. Also you have to use a really good natural shampoo with no alcohol. Something like pureology or just wash your hair with the conditioner with the kit. Shampoo strip the hair of color if you don't use the right kind. Just in case nobody knew this :-)

Thanks very much, I have yet to try it. I've heard some folks say they add some conditioner to the jar to thin it out before they even start because it is so thick. I probably will try that. Thanks for the photos.

Thank-you for watching! And yes, even compared to their other colours I found this one to be weirdly thick, conditioner will probably help or even just some water.

I love the purple for brown hair because I have seriously dark brown hair and it showed up so well and I could still see it after four washes without using conditioner. The smell is to die for. It got into my pillow and no regrets. I say this because while the rose gold looks nice, I think purple might be the only one dark enough to effectively show up on really dark hair.
@t.beanie4 жыл бұрын
@Nixy Pixy did you have previously colored hair or all natural? I'm also curious how long you leave it in for. My hair is totally natural, no dye and fairly dark brown. I really want to try purple.

@@t.beanie all natural hair, and I left it in a little longer than suggested, about 20-25 minutes. That's for the mask. My hair is darker now than it was in my picture. The purple will take on some of your natural cool or warm tone.

it does wash out SO fast, you really have to use their tinted conditioner with each wash, it'll fade much slower then, and if you come out of the shower and let it sit in there an hour or so every few washes BAM it'll last for ages!!! i loooooove overtone, have done their purple & rose gold for brown hair, extreme pink, and extreme green! so fun!

Yes! The conditioning color is really thick. I had a hard time getting uniform color through out. I’ve also been using the daily conditioner every other wash day. I’m a 3-b/c curly girl, so I only wash twice weekly. It’s pretty good at keeping the color. I’ve not used either in a couple weeks, so I’m going to try an ombré this evening. The conditioning is nice, but as a curly, I have to put in another leave in conditioner. I also left the conditioning color on initially, for 45 minutes. That helped the initial color last for a couple washes, with the daily keeping things up, but nowhere near as vibrant as the initial use.

If you have brown hair and you want to tint it red you would be better off using Directions, Manic Panic, Crazy Colours or some other similar inexpensive vegan conditioning dye. They all come in lots of colours and can be mixed with conditioner to lighten the colour and make the product last longer. Price range is £3.99 to £12 depending on which brand and amount of product. As they can be mixed with condition you can make up your own top up daily conditioner in the colour and shade you want using conditioner and some of the vegan dye. I hope this helps.

Would you compare to a diy overtone product? You can mix a demi permanent hair dye with conditioner in the ratio you want and use it like a deep conditioning hair mask whenever you want a color touch up. I've been hesitant to try overtone when I've been doing this diy version for a while and it works to keep the deep plum tint in my dark auburn hair. I use it everytime I wash, about 2 times a week, and let it sit anywhere from 1 minute to 30! Lol, my hair gets really soft when I let it sit for longer so it's a good excuse to take a long bath soak in a reusable shower cap that I rinse and hang to dry after using my dye conditioner. I buy ion demi permanent dye and currently mix it with Not Your Mother's curly hair conditioner and my total cost per bottle is maybe $14 to $16 if there is not sales and that's if I'm using using the whole dye tube and conditioner bottle. Just take some conditioner out before trying to put the dye in and shake the bottle like your bartending for 007 😂 Otherwise you can mix a smaller amount in a container of whatever conditioner you already have and just make more whenever you run low.

@YanniekHeijkoop4 жыл бұрын
Shabby Cat Yes! I do get intolerances to some shampoos but I use a vegan one now which has been great! Yeah being allergic to hair dye can really result in a bad situation. It does suddenly happen and actually it can get worse over time! I do know that darker color have more of this chemical in hair dye that starts with a P ( forgot just now but you can look it up) my tip would be to use this, or henna, or using brands with less chemicals in. Like L’Oréal gave me a much worse reaction than wella. And my hair dresser made sure to try and stay away from my scalp always! I now go to a hairdresser, and they have a hair dye similar to overtone, where it’s more of a pigment on your hair and that’s in shampoo. So very easy to upkeep!
