DIY Entryway Table | DIY wooden table... primative reclaimed wood console table

I'm giving my rental apartment entryway a makeover by building a diy console table out of wood. But this isn't just any diy entryway table, this is a rustic table; a vintage-inspired table with a primitive design - the type that are super expensive to buy! The key to this diy table is to really distress the wood so that it looks like reclaimed wood. Making this table was a process but I'm super happy with how it turned out! I took an area that was literally a storage room and transformed it into something so much better (I love it)! Making this diy reclaimed wood table can be super affordable if you have some of the basic materials! It's also pretty easy to make this diy table (I mean figuring it out wasn't THAT easy for me but the good thing is I've figured it out for you 😉).

Always enjoy watching you work through the solutions to a beautiful end result! My Grandpa was a cabinet builder. I tried to build a bench top out of a solid pine 1x12 that eventually warped. Gramps said pros always use smaller strips glued together ( like butcher block) or plywood covered in veneer. If you look at the tree rings of your solid board, this is how the wood naturally wants to bow as it will continue to expand and contract from temperature and humidity changes. Somehow the movement is minimized by using several boards to get the width you desire. Pay attention to the end grain to have the rings facing like a rainbow. For instance, a wood deck with boards grain like a U have the edges curling up that are trip hazards. Hope this helps, as I'm sure you chose the straightest board without realizing they all have potential to move with the grain 😻

For smaller areas that you need to use a pocket hole screw they do sell a much shorter drill bit, just a little FYI! Turned out great!!

When I first discovered the conjoined pocket hole in my shop, I thought it was so cool... until I tried screwing it together like you guys. I have a right angle adapter for my impact that I had to get to drill thru studs to hide my tv cables recently. Works great for those tissue box pocket holes and is handy for lots of other applications in woodwork

The comedic style of this video was brilliant. Seeing you and Parth working together was wonderful as well as a little background into your father's background when it comes to builds. Great end result! I was told once that it's good to have some fear when working with power tools because it's that fear that's going to keep you safe and from making mistakes. My woodshop teacher in grade 7 built the fear in us and it's allowed me to stay as safe as possible when working with power tools.

lol relatable about being scared! Yesterday my miter saw wasn't working and I kept hammering the trigger. After an hour of looking up videos about why it wasn't working, it just suddenly worked and scared the crap out of me! I opted to use a hand saw for the rest of the small pieces.
