Here's how we make our solid soaps and shampoo. Natural soap is ecological and is completely biodegradable. In addition we leave the glycerin which hydrates the skin ... 👇
Based on oils, beeswax and potassium hydroxide (KOH) or sodium hydroxide (NaOH, caustic soda), it is quite simple to make as long as you are precise in the ingredients and that we follow some precautionary principles.
Doing your soap or opting for solid soap for your toilet also allows you to be left with plastic packaging and reduce waste.
As a bonus a little introduction to know how all of this works.

Rectification and precision:
The cure time
4 weeks (minimum) is often indicated as the delay for using soap made with cold process. It clearly depends on a lot of parameters including oils, storage temperature, etc.
It is advisable to leave a soap to age for a few months which makes them softer and denser.
That said, we should have better explained in the video the the usefulness of these 4 months, which do not only include the saponification phase. It is therefore not necessarily necessary to wait this time to use a soap made with cold process, at least from the point of view of safety.
Vinegar use on burns caused by caustic soda
Neutralizing a base with an acid is prohibited. Although it may seem natural, the base + acid reaction is exothermic, which can make the situation worse, and even if it is weak, the vinegar is acidic and it is also problematic on an injury. The best thing to do is therefore, according to our research, to rinse thoroughly with water.
ℹ️ Ingredients of the recipes presented in this video:
⚠️ CAUTION ⚠️ As a reminder, handling caustic soda is dangerous! Protect your skin, hands, eyes and lungs! The utensils used are old junk that is no longer used in the kitchen. Essential Oils (EO) should not be used on babies, pregnant or lactating women. We used a reference book to select our EO according to the properties sought. If you are not sure what you are doing, do not use EO.
🧼 Hand and body soap
- 300 g olive oil
- 125 g solid coconut fat
- 50 g beeswax
- 167 g (ml) of water
- 63 g of caustic soda (NaOH)
- Additives (optional): EO of your choice (10-15g); Green clay (10 g)
🧼 Repairing hand soap
Same recipe as above for oil substances except that the olive oil comes from the oily macerate of flowers. St. John's wort oil is photosensitizing, after saponification, it is no longer "oil", therefore not absorbed by the skin, only the fraction contained in the superfat will be. No reference exists on the subject. In view of the minimal amount that this represents, for us this is not a problem.
🧼 Solid shampoo (hot saponification)
- 175 g olive oil
- 150 g solid coconut fat
- 82 g avocado oil
- 50 g beeswax
- 170 g (ml) of water
- 64 g of caustic soda (NaOH)
- Additives (optional): EO of your choice (4-8 g)
- Superfat: 19 g avocado oil
To make this recipe with cold process, just include the superfat in the initial oil mixture, add if using them more essential oils.
These recipes are provided as they are, as we have developed them according to our knowledge and for our needs, with the ingredients that we wanted to use and have available. They bring us complete satisfaction.
We make them available but there is no guarantee and this also supposes that they are carried out correctly. It is easy to find other recipes on the web, do not improvise.
