Great video I have printed all the parts and have all the other necessary at home. However, I would need detailed instructions on how to program the Arduino. Another video on this would be great

Nice, and you probably learned some things along the way. However, once you calculate your time into these kinds of projects (which no one ever seems to do) You're likely well over the $149 cost of a wired space mouse, and missing the 2 buttons However, if you decide to make one that has all the buttons you may need, you can just make some changes The rest of us will just have to buy a more expensive version and hope the key layout works for us

Maybe I say it wrong, but when you do DIY project you don't calculate your time into cost. You calculate your time in if you do things for others. If you do it for yourself your time don't cost you any money. (Yes time can be more valuable than money.) It's a cool DIY project what I wanted to try. Thanks for the comment. It's always good to hear other people thoughts.

I like the nice dark finish. The LEDs also give it a nice modern light effect. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Hey, i’ve been looking for DIY spacemouses and found one by Teaching Tech that emulated 3dconnection with arduino, using an Arduino Pro Micro. It used 4 joysticks instead of magnets but I believe it can be worked around so that this spacemouse gets 3dconnection support, wich I would love since this is much smaller than the joysticks one.

Nice, I began exactly this project some months ago, but my printer fails horribly at the overhang of the knob. X1C as well.

Yes, you can try slower speeds and you can try supports also. You can also sand it and add putty to make it nice.

Die Maus ist ganz Cool, aber es gibt auch eine Orbion Maus. Das Projekt ist noch etwas anspruchsvoller und die Maus hat etwas mehr Funktionen...

This looks like a spacemouse but it is no where near one in terms of movement.

That deadzone looks like it's a km wide, and it looks like only one axis is active at a time (aka dominant mode). These DIY devices are a great initiative, but the firmware side still needs to improve to match the usability of the commercial devices. In the real thing there's barely any deadzone, and all 6 axes are live at the same time. This is IMO a very important part of how the spacemouse/navigator/pilot work

The real 3DConnexion navigators are 6 degrees of freedom, not 3. The one showed on Teaching Tech is 6 DOF too, but very chunky and probably not very precise. This is nowhere near the functionality of a SpaceMouse.

Just compare it with real SpaceMouse, and you will regret about spending those €93.07

I pity that you do not understand the joy of making things yourself and using things, even if it is worse. I have many things around my shop that I've made that work worse than pre-made solutions, but I love using them because I made them. I may lose some time and quality, but it is worth it. Not having that love would be sad.

PEI can be a PITA too. Namely if you don't want to wait, you can end up ripping chunks of it right off the build plate.

@@tasa4904I never wait for a PLA print to cool before removing a part from my PEI sheets. I do use the engineering plate with glue stick for PETG, TPU, ASA, ABS, NYLONS, etc though.
