it was not beautiful szenery, it was a barren desert and like jimmy hues i thought, what if there was an accident, apart from knowing how to get out - along the rails - you would be stuck there, no one lives where is that really

My man, when was this filmed? As of 12-31-18 the first 2 tunnel gates were closed and locked. Are they open again?

Congratulations from Brazil. Very interesting and cool video. By the way, what's the "plan B" if the kart has a breakdown far from the starting point? Already happened?

Walk and/or push, and yes, this has happen to me. Look for my video called "Home Made Rail Cart - Ride Cut Short" and see what happens.

LOOKS GREAT BUT THOSE WHEELS SOUND "VERY" FRAIL AND GOD HELP ANYONE CRACKING ONE HUNDREDS OF MILES FROM ANYWHERE???!!!
@therocketscientist00003 жыл бұрын
Those wheels are the best in the business. I've rode hundreds and hundreds of miles on them without any cuts, cracks, dents or failures! Check them out at: railriders.net

I assume this line was built with a use and purpose in mind? What happened? Why was it abandoned? It’s far south of the SPs line from LA to El Paso, probably close to the Mexican border? Seems a shame that such a good facility is wasting away. Nice video, thank you for posting.
@therocketscientist00003 жыл бұрын
It was supposed to be from San Diego, CA to Yuma, AZ. Lack of passengers in the early days and lack of freight in the latter days, it went broke. Over 100 years old now and wasting away.

I tell you, unless you've got fully reliable radio contact with a helicopter, if you break down or the coyotes get you out in that desert, you are going to be in a life or death survival situation. Even with enough water, you could never walk out. I admire your guts and your faith in your buggy

WHAT ARE THOSE MESH LIKE WALKWAYS ALONG THIS ROUTE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE??
@therocketscientist00003 жыл бұрын
Those are called "set offs". They were used to turn around the original speeders of the time.

Very interesting video. Beautiful scenery and a really novel way to see it. Pity to see all these spectacular engineering feats not put to better use than being left to rot away. We have the same problem here in Australia too.

Double cool. How far did you go and did the tracks run out at the end when you stopped just before coming out of the tunnel?

We made it all the way to the Goat Canyon Trestle, then we turned around.

@@therocketscientist0000 I have no idea how many miles that would be. I al trying to find this trestle on Google earth. Here in Texas, they pull the old rails up and leave nothing but the rail bed.
