Really helpful vid. I'm restoring a 82 GPz 550 with a fair amount of black anodized fasteners and this is the first video i've seen that covers (pun intended) that subject. Princess Auto and Cambodian Tire should subsidize your channel! Cheers from Sussex NB! 🇨🇦 😀

Well done Lorne, learnt a lot from this video even though I’ve seen many on YT, I like the simplicity of this set up, didn’t want to spend a fortune on kits, just tidying up a 1200 RT, this setup would suit me fine, thanks for sharing 👍😃

Very Helpful sir, especially the list of items needed from Caswell :)

The shiny new zinc plated fasteners you buy are for sure not being polished in the factory, the plating process just takes the parts they come of the cold forming process

Hi, Great video! Thanks for sharing. I've been doing the home brew method. I find that the parts but really well but its another lengthy step using that method. Then, later I'm finding that they oxidize within the month (covered, but outside storage). I have the same generator and will try what you are doing. Looks like it will save me some time which will justify the expense. Thanks again

Glad you liked it. I think the dull finish with the home brew is full of micro pors and don't really provide the protection needed. Just my thoughts on what's occurring.

Thanks for making this video. Very straight forward zinc plating information. Will this exact solutions and process work for aluminum zinc plating?

Thanks! Sorry but I haven't tried plating on aluminum.

@@lornetontegode6986 That’s alright. I’ll look into zincating aluminum pretty soon. Are you able to post the link to your zinc plating solution here?

Very nice video. Love the acetone idea. Do use any of the brightener in the zink solution?
@lornetontegode6986 Жыл бұрын
I use the Caswell brightener each time before I start. About a cap full.

Super cool. Thanks for sharing. I could see a big color difference between the yellow & black once dipped, but the blue didn't look much different. Does it show more in real life as opposed to the screen?
@lornetontegode6986 Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you liked the video. It does show more change in person but it isn't a major difference. A bit more clean and brilliant looking. It provides for more corrosion resistance I believe which is worth it in my opinion.

Nice job. I think you should spend a little more time on the critical details like how to make the electrical connections and how to set up the power supply. Looks really nice though.

I'm happy with the results and have a lot of individual pieces to do almost every day. It's very easy to redo if there's a problem so I don't stress over it. Thanks for the comment.

What is the degreaser you used prior to plating? I can’t seem to hear what you said and CC isn’t helping either lol Edit: ah, I think you’re saying Barsol, found it on the google.
