Spacing mainly. Whenever I go over any of the "waves" or the side it changes the angle of the tape if that makes sense.

@@bshort6941 sure do and that's perfectly fine. When you look at a real draped flag the stripes are not perfectly in line. You said you have a problem with bleeding. Prior to staining, if you put just one coat of urethane on the parts that represent the white stripes and along the edges just use a smaller brush, you should avoid any bleeding. It worked for me, but, it's a bit time consuming. You would have to see if the time to profit ratio is feasible. If not, I really do like the torching the bleed areas. God bless and excellent work, sir

Man. Awesome work. It looks fantastic. I was a little bit confused by the layout, but it makes sense in the end. How many hours do you have into it? Not including drying overnight?

@@HanleysHomestead not over the whole project. Put the tape down like you do, then, just over the seam of the tape where you want the crisp edge, apply a thin strip of poly. When dry, paint as you normally would as the poly will accept the paint but prevent it from bleeding under the tape. Try it on some scrap piece and see how the stain works on the poly.
