So glad you persevered through the camera woes and completed this video. You did it with much more grace than I. I would have had to walk away for an hour and have a hissy fit! ALSO, I was thinking that with food-safe ingredients (extracts instead of oils, real lemon peel, etc.) some of these could be dual purpose - body scrub or finishing sugar! JK, kinda… Can you tell I recently watched the finishing sugar video? Love all the ideas you have and how it prompts more creative thoughts - and confidence! - to try new things. Happy channel-versary!

So I was so happy when I woke up and you had made one! I feel like yall are our friends too! Love your channel, thank you so much for all your tried and true creative recipes and how toos, love your relatable rants, we love yall and your channel ♥!! Happy 1st anniversary and many more! 🎉 ps. I keep meaning to tell you if you look on the spice aisle at Walmart they make an organic lemon zest In a tiny glass jar! I use it quite often when a recipe calls for lemon zest and I don't have a lemon. It's saved my butt numerous times! You should check it out! Thank you for all your hard work Ali!

I dry my own ginger. Make sure you leave the skin on. I cut it into small pieces, and dry it slowly in my oven (I don't have a dehydrator) I ground it up and put it with pink sea salt for a seasoning, and I use it the way it is and make a lovely cup of tea for an upset tummy. I also put it in a jar with vodka and make a tincture for upset tummy. I do the salt mixture with my dried basil and also I dry my carrot tops and make a salt with that. Delicious on pork roast.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa7 күн бұрын
We use our carrot tops in place of parsley. We dried it an no one even notices it isn't dried parsley. I love the idea of ginger!

If you have a diabetic friend or family member, substitute sea salt and epsom salt for the body scrub, you may need to add a few more drops of essential oils as salt steals scent. But this way, their feet stay healthy! Merry Christmas y'all from AZ and Happy Anniversary

Happy 1st Anniversary! Love your channel. Have you ever tried making the sugar scrub cubes? I’ve seen them on Pinterest but I’ve never tried them but wonder if you might have tried them before. Thanks for the gift ideas.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa5 күн бұрын
I bet you do them using coconut oil and maybe some beeswax. I’ll have to give them a try
@parislia68685 күн бұрын
I think they use melt & pot soap with them but I would think you could do it without the soap.

Happy Anniversary!! I’m sooooo glad that I found you. It’s pretty windy your way today. We can see things flying around. Speaking of brown sugar, with the homemade version do we still need to use those stone things that we put in water to keep the sugar soft?
@LittleHillHomesteadGa7 күн бұрын
I don’t find I need those. It stays plenty moist without it in a mason jar. Thank you!!!

My all time favorite sugar scrub scent is the Tahitian vanilla bean from Tree Hut. They replaced it with a different vanilla scent that doesn’t smell good to me at all. I haven’t found it in a store in over a year. I can still find the shave oil, just not the lotion or scrub. Maybe I’ll try using the shaving oil to make a scrub.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa7 күн бұрын
That is so frustrating when you find a scent you love and they discontinue it!
@angeladepetris-phillippe41527 күн бұрын
Thank you, I love these ideas. Are your dyes natural ones? I was also thinking of using lemon, orange, and grapefruit zest instead of the eo's to make it more natural or without so much fragrance. Have you ever tried a sugar or salt scrub like that? I have shared your vids.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa7 күн бұрын
I have used zest, but they need to be stored in the fridge unless you use dried zest. If you use mica in the scrub or oxides it is more natural but can stain your skin.
@karengaudiosi93908 күн бұрын
Allie these were great ideas thanks for sharing. I was wondering if you have ever made a milk bath bubble bath before. They are very hard to find here and if you do find one it’s like $30! Just was wondering 🤔
@LittleHillHomesteadGa7 күн бұрын
We have! If you use our salt soaks and add powdered milk to them you get a milk soak. It isn't exactly the same. I have one on my list to make that is a liquid but I need some supplies for it.

Can you substitute salt for sugar... I do not like the sticky feeling that sugar gives you. Seems like I can never get it washed off enough.

You totally can! Sugar, salt, coffee grounds, brown sugar, crushed nut shells.

Hi all y'all 😂❤ I make sugar scrub every year for Christmas. I use it all year-round, myself, but! 😩 ..I have some information that bummed me the heck right out. I discovered that coconut oil (which is what I always make the scrub with) is comedogenic😭😭😭 which means: it clogs your pores! And I use it everyday for all kinds of things. So ..I no longer use it on my face and switched to castor oil instead. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I'm still traumatized 😊❤
@LittleHillHomesteadGa8 күн бұрын
Yikes, that’s a bummer! I’m gonna have to do some research. I don’t use coconut all that much but prefer grapeseed or avocado. I never use it on my face because everything makes me break out. I’ll make sure to mention this in future videos .

Can coffee grounds go down the drain in the shower?

In small amounts it should be okay. I do a few tablespoons for the full recipe and use sugar or salt as your main exfoliant.
