I saw all the sunglasses hacks online and decided to try something different. Guess what it worked AWESOME!! So here is what I used ( Turtle Wax Car headlight Lens restore white compound works great. It comes in the box of headlight restore. I had some extra and said what the hell why not. I was going to spend $200 on new progressive lens replacement for my Oakley Fuel cell sunglasses. Holy smokes it took all the fine scratches out in minutes. Just apply, Rub in very well then wash with Joy warm soap and water and dry. Done saved me $200 worth a shot. Share the Karma Sunglasses companies will hate this post. Lol

Smart! Do you think it affects the UV protection and other stuff on it?

Totally agree its best to not damage the lenses in the first place. In addition to a case, I usually use a cleaning cloth to further protect the lenses. I've also use Kimtech Kimwipes after learning of them for use cleaning lenses but there are special lens papers made that should be used instead. Something to give a fuzzy surface instead of the hard plastic as my eyeglasses came in is better. Make sure your case stays clean or you could be dragging dirt against the lens anyways from that safer soft surface. Some tricks I've used in plastic repair for CDs, device screen covers, etc., not usually glasses, has been: - Future Floorwax: More readily available from local shops. Usuallynot the cleanest final surface appearance from the worked on area but used it to massively reduced the annoyance of some pretty big gashes on a Fluke multimeter screen. - chapstick: Learned from sister that applying that to an otherwise cleaned CD and buffing it clean and even with a cloth left many unreadable CDs readable again. - Novus: Plastic (re)finishing polish. Takes time and effort (more time and effort than you showed in this video). It will fight scratches by removing material and I am used to having much smaller but not completely invisible scratches result when I have used it. Take your time and don't rush it to get great results. Also don't be lazy like me and use the proper polishing cloths + separate ones for each stage if using multiple levels; I usually use paper towels but that's a careful balancing act as the pressure to work the polish is about the same pressure to scratch the plastic with a paper towel. After using Novus you could consider a pass of chapstick (temporary) or Future Floorwax but gains are likely not work the trouble and problems it causes. Maybe a slower residue leaving polish besides the Novus #1 may give different results like Fritz Glass and Acrylic Cleaner (an aquarium product) may give varying results. Though I forget the name, there is a plastic polish commonly sold for polishing plastic watch faces that I'd expect to be similar to Novus but not sure how the final result will compare.

My dad threw out a pair of raybans, They were on the cheaper side but still, they are good sunglasses. So I took them out and saw a bunch of scratches, nothing else wrong, just scratches. Since they were free for me I might as well try to remove the scratches.

what about clear nail polish? Q_Q I heard to fills in the scratches because it so clear.
@sportrxeyewear8 ай бұрын
Good question! We would not recommend it. While it may fill in or help hide the scratch, it will more than likely distort the optics when looking through the lens and make the problem worse.
