That looks like something I could use for LEGO animation. Might be easier to move the light source into a PVC Pipe and use a round magnifying glass to make linear light.

I would love to see a sequel! For mounting the fans you could take the socket mount from the cooler, just plan a few holes for the push pins in the 3D printed case. It would be perfect if you made an entire grid of these modules so that you can fill a normal size window (90 cm x 130 cm or 140 cm x 130 cm for double-leaf windows ) with them. Interlocking them could be also done by making puzzle shapes on the side of the module cases. However, the module cases should be angled so that the sun won't shine perpendicular to the window area into the house in 0° angle, but like 45° down like a sunny afternoon and a bit to the side.

Super cool! :) I, uh, saw the DIY perks video, and may have found a stray satellite dish... But I had thought... Why not use the blue reflective vinyl instead of the silver? Well, it's in the mail, in the way... --- I mean, theoretically, that might save the whole soapy water and extra layer of glass effort, no? --- Mmm, hoping sunnier basements can be found for wintertime..

Oh hey, ya you know, That DIY Perks video looks really cool, ha ha. He totally minimizes how big a satellite dish is, putting it in another room. Where the hell do you want to our a satellite dish in your house? They're big. Ha ha. -I ended up trying this flat-screen TV idea with the blue vinyl, LED strip lights... It works decent enough. -- I mean, there are certainly some elaborate do it yourself ideas you can come up with... -but ease to do and space efficiency are considerations.

Yeah I guess it would work, it's just a LED and some plastic. You would definitely need to upgrade / waterproof the casing though

The problem with most low cost solutions is that you have to make some concessions. The sun has many colors during the day. I chose a 3000k led to mimic the 'morning sun'. It has the same parallel light rays as the sun (demo'd in the video) so it's basically the same as small ray of morning sunlight, also shown plenty of times in the video. If you want a bigger version which can light up your whole room I'd recommend to checkout the DIY perks video, but that one will cost more and take more time.

Go take a look at DIY Perks' video where he scales it up with a satellite dish. It's more convincing because its an actual window, but if you do close object photography this here will be well suited in certain situations.
