@stepangering89576 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The final layer was clear epoxy and it's transparent enough. But the correct way is to paint the foam directly before placing fiber glass and epoxy. It would be still visible and there's no way how to scratch it. :) next time haha..

Well done! How did you copy the outline of the stringer?
@stepangering89576 жыл бұрын
Nicolas Christ thank you! We used the old surf board which fits great. Then we laid it down on the floor and copy the shape, first the lower part by two triangle rulers and one long classic ruler (making mark every 10cm) and then do the same with upper part. It took about 1 hour in two people but the shape is great. Hope it helped, it’s pretty hard to explain it :D also it’s a year ago and I don’t remeber dvery detail :/

Albert Gonzalez I think it’s already mentioned out there. It’s epoxy resin with double layer of 140g/m2 fibreglass for top and single layer of 160g/m2 fibreglass for bottom side.

I didn't understand how you put the fiberglass on top of the fin spots, because the fins stayed in place, but you put resin inside and all that stuff.. Can anyone explain please ? (I'm quite new to surfboards)
@stepangering89576 жыл бұрын
pesci_fabio hey there, sorry for late answer. To be honest we made it wrong. You shouldn’t put the fin boxes with the first layer of fibre but with the last one. The fins must be out of boxes ofc. Then you just sand the holes through the fibre, place fins and here we go!💪🏻
@pesci_fabio6 жыл бұрын
@@stepangering8957 oh, ok, now it makes a lot more sense 👌👌 tank you fella, amazing job 💚💚

It can be done as shown in the video. Putting patches over the boxes then the full layer over the top is a sure way to stop the boxes ripping out.

@@stepangering8957 V pohodě. Kdo si počká, ten se dočká. :D Šablony jsem už našel, celé sešity nejrůznějších tvarů. Jediné, nad čím tápu je materiál. Jak polystyren, tak kolem laminace. Odkud a co jste brali? Jestli se můžu zeptat. Díky.
@stepangering89576 жыл бұрын
Lukáš Borik jasně, no brali jsme obyč eps, už si přesně nepamatuju odkud, ale to taky najdeš rychle. No a epoxid dvousložkovej jsme brali od Stachemy. Tvrdili jsme to P11, to je dost pevný, ale musim říct, že dost křehký. Nicméně tvrdidel mají víc a chce to asi zkoušet. Ideálně si napatlat na kousky eps a pak chvilku zkoušet no:)
@boriklukas6 жыл бұрын
@@stepangering8957 paráda, díky moc! A to eps, jste brali jako nějakou dvoumetrovou desku nebo jste lepili více desek. Vypadá to, že máte jednu velkou, tak se ptám pro jistotu.
@stepangering89576 жыл бұрын

@@stepangering8957 yeah it was silmar 249 polyester resin. The standard in the PU surfboard industry. I glassed boards for 25 years but got out when the talk about epoxy taking over started. And all the China boards started flooding the market. It wasn't quite the same after Clark foam shut down. But yeah, polyester and eps is bad news.

Try laminating the board first before u put in the plugs for your fins this adds strength to your fin sets as you add up to 4 layers of strength so your final plugs don't flex out of your board. Same goes for your leggy plug. Great try though. Also use machine sander with at least 80 or 100 grit and work down to 150. To get the bumps and uneven resin from your laminate.
