The DIY synth sequencer is done! Eurorack formatted and everything, plus, MATTE BLACK GOLD FINISH! Thanks to Oskitone, creator of the OKAY synth for the initial design!

Awesome project. You could also feed the CV from the potentiometers into the VCO (instead of the 2nd 555) such as in the classic baby8 circuit.

It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one that it NEVER works 1st try for! Also it would have been nice to see and hear at same time working! Great work either way.

I don't think I've EVER had something work perfectly on the first try! There's always a hiccup. And thanks for the note! I'll keep that in mind.

That's so awesome! How did you get those clean little translucent windows for your LEDs on the front PCB?

2:54 LOL! "That doesn't work........at all" It never works on the first try, and typically the 2nd or 3rd. 😬 How many hours did you end up putting into this project?
@stephen_hawes
@stephen_hawes 5 жыл бұрын
this one took me a while! roughly 2 hours planning/ordering parts, 5 hours prototyping, 10 for PCB design, then another 8 or so for assembly, debugging, etc.

Oh wow, really great work and perseverance, Also showing your failures is a true testament to your character. Please, how did you get the black and gold cover done? I am new to this and would like to design an enclosure with the same theme

Hi, don't think this is still relevant but I looked into his design files because I'm planning a similar project albeit with a slightly different colour scheme. It seems like the gold writing is done by selecting the front solder mask layer and putting the text there, basically creating copper pads in the form of the writing. The black is just the PCB finish some manufacturers let you choose. However I could be wrong, feel free to correct me.

Did you ever revise your sequencer board? I’m looking to build a similar sequencer and would consider buying one. If you decided against selling could we get a look at your schematics for it.

at 7:35, are the 'windows' for the LEDS see through pcb or did you put in some kind of lens?

Please, can you show us how do you did create the front and pcb in KiCad to keep them aligned? I did download KiCad this week to start with it.

Thank you for showing your mistakes and that these things don't automagically work. It takes time and effort. That gold on black is super sexy though

You continue to mention getting sound from your sequencer. I am confused. Is it a 4 step CV / gate sequencer? Does it produce sound? Can it be externally clocked?
@PaulSpades
@PaulSpades 3 жыл бұрын
It's more like a square wave arpegiator (uses the second 555 to produce the sound). I'm not sure how that can sequence other oscillators, maybe if you use the outputs as gate and cv. I assume my sequencers send midi and play/stop, so I don't really know how the analogue guys do it.
