Use sand in the base and rocks on top . This helps to not have to use so many rocks. I love these!

Great idea. I'd still use the foil, makes it so much easier to switch out the cannister without having rocks or sand caving in around it all. Thanks for watching and the suggestion 😉💖

***ATTENTION*** I have been asked a few times why I use the foil. I have had a MUCH EASIER time replacing the canister using the foil. Without it the rocks cave in. I did it for ease of use. You don't have to add that step if you choose not to, it's up to you!! Also, this particular type of gel fuel is not made for roasting food, please read tge manufacturers label to see what is food safe!! Thank you for all the interest in this video, I really appreciate it!!

Awesome video! 👍💕I’ve been trying to figure out how I can cheaply have a little fire on my parents patio, but they live in a condo. I don’t understand why KZbin is not showing any likes if there are 104 comments and they are positive?

I made one of these from a metal container, river rocks, and cans of sterno I got at Dollar Tree. It does not have the holder for the can of sterno. I'm going to add that to mine. What a great idea!

Viewing some other You tube videos. They made flame oil from Olive oil. After your can is used up you can fill it with oils. They also used a string mop for the wick. I definitely will try this center bowl idea.

About how long does the fuel last ?
@wishingmelon15 жыл бұрын
Silvia Marrier Gel “sternos” as they are called last anywhere from 45 mins to 4 hrs. Depends on the size of them! Depends on how much gel fuel or oil is in the sterno.
@creartivebynature5 жыл бұрын
My canisters say 2.5 hours 😉 but really depends on the brand. Thanks for watching!!

Can I not use the foil tape?
@creartivebynature3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean just the foil tape? If so, you can if you'd like to, put 2 pieces together so it doesn't stick to the cannister, you need to be able to remove the cannister and replace it without the rocks caving into the hole you create. Alternative is to use a tin can that'll fit the cannister you use. I mixed foil tape and tin foil as it was cheaper for me 😉 Hope that helps!!

I loved the video. Thanks for the amazing idea. i have a question, do i need to put the aluminum foil? Can i make this without the aluminum foil or a tin canister (without burning down the house)? I always thought rocks were fireproof so I'm wondering if i can skip the extra steps? Thanks a lot 🙂
@creartivebynature5 жыл бұрын
Hey there. I used the foil ( or a tin can ) to create a place for me to put the fuel canister so when I go to replace it the rocks won't cave in. I also find that the rocks won't get as hot and crack, as this can happen. So far it hasn't for me, but it's been mentioned in other tutorials that I've seen and read. I wouldn't leave it unattended, I would also keep something nearby to put the flame out if needed, just like you would with any other open flame 🤗 I hope this help 😄 Thanks for watching 💖 I appreciate it!!

Can it be used indoors?
