Great job on the camper, as you camp you’ll notice a lot of people will be interested in your camper, I think it’s a growing segment of the market so keep posting videos as you gain more experience.

Thanks for the video, great build. I installed a removable hammock in front of my rear cabinets, it uses 2 poles. Great place for night stuff, day clothes, shoes, jackets, etc. The forward pole has 2 heights incase you have a dog. ENJOY

Nice! That sounds perfect for extra storage.

I'm with you on the additional storage. An additional cabinet would make the space feel more confined, whereas the stretch net would leave the space feeling more open until you actually need the storage, and even full it would feel less intrusive on your space.

Beautiful job on the camper! In our squaredrop camper we just carry enough clothes for the next day or two inside and keep all of our extra clothes in the tow vehicle. No matter how many cabinets you try to fit in a teardrop it'll never be enough for a very long trip anyway. Also stowing extra food gear and clothes in the tow vehicle usually allows for easier access anyway. Have fun and thanks for the video!

The camper looks very pretty and very well thought through. This video explains a lot in regards to your abilities and confidence in woodworking. After all that successful work, there must be a new mentality of being able to tackle every kind of project. I’m not (yet) into the whole camping thing, but I love watching people designing and building them. One thing I really like about following you, or people like Pneumatic Addict and 3x3custom tamar, two just name a few, is the way you all seem settled and grounded.

You guys did an amazing job and of all the DIY teardrops I’ve seen, yours is the most beautiful. The exterior wood finish is amazing looking. I live here in Folsom and the lake is in my backyard, glad you enjoyed your visit here and the lake actually had some water in it.

Great job on your camper. I was glad to see you kept cool and that you pulled it with a Subaru. I recently built my teardrop. I made a big tongue box that has a door that swings open. A four week project in itself but worth it 36 by 24 by 24. As far as in cab storage how about a hammock shelf made from see-through Monolite from ripstop by the roll. Its very light and strong. Attach it with mini carabiners to metal hoops or S.E.PEAK Stainless Steel Bolt Hangers. That way you can use it for overflow only when you need it. I use one on my galley door. I originally made it for hammock camping to hold my backpack off off the ground. I thought it could be used to let things like dishes air dry or to set things in when the counter gets to crowded. My wife and beagle Poppy will throughly test ours out this summer when we go from Oregon to Michigan this summer.

Thanks! I appreciate the suggestions, that is another good option for additional storage. And hope your Oregon to Michigan roadtrip goes well, that sounds like an epic trip!

Awesome Teardrop Camper! ...How about creating some kind of storage option for the Subaru, where you can keep the essentials inside the Camper, and the none essential stuff(Clothes & food for longer camping trips). And for bike storage, if it is possible, use a Bike rack onto the back of the Subaru, so that the additional wind loading of the bikes won't affect your MPGs. Great build at any rate! ...I hope that You & Kyle are safe and well with all the weather that Cali has been getting recently. Stay safe, and always happy! :)

A suggestion for increased storage might be to build two-level cabinets as done in the Camp-Inn 550 teardrop. Other option could be to add underfloor shelves between the trailer beams, like the Vistabule. An interesting variant of this was done by Chesapeake Light Crafts Camper in the form of a "bolt-on" underfloor with side access. I'll leave you some YT links so you can see them: Camp-Inn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/in2vd6dpq995paMsi=dtSU3ZGq-e0vke6Y&t=724 Vistabule: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXy3amd9dtGpp68si=p6mI879k5PA2oZ_M&t=246 CIC Camper: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6Hdkn-wabCfac0si=hs_bBrESwSfnVZhw

BEAUTIFUL camper, so are you - wish you showed more of the build and design. get a bike rack that goes on the back of a car trailer hitch and you can weld it to the trailer pull in front of the tool chest.

Elena, hello again, 2 questions: (1) How thick is your queen mattress? You have a link to it? (2) How tall or high is your inside ceiling? Depending on how tall you guys are, I was wondering if it felt claustrophobic or great. Great job on the update, keep updating, in the process of building ours as we speak.
@elenamakes Жыл бұрын
Hello, happy to answer: 1. Our mattress is 8 in thick and we bought it from Overstock.com (I'll attach a link to the foam mattress we got below) 2. There are 49 inches between our floor and ceiling by the head of the bed which allowed the tallest out of my family (my dad who is 6ft) to still sit up fully on the mattress and not hit his head on the ceiling. I'm 5'7" and my husband is 5'11" and neither of us felt claustrophobic while in there. I think the higher ceiling, the big window, and the doors on both sides with windows helped us avoid the feeling of being "trapped" or claustrophobic. Good luck with your build! www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Sleeplanner-8-Inch-Memory-Foam-Mattress/27549722/product.html?refccid=2O4TTAEN7N2LM6KNMBGDTLRKIA&searchidx=11&kwds=&rfmt=mattress%20type%3AFoam%7Cthickness%3A8%20in
@macbethdemilo7253 Жыл бұрын
Awesome, thanks for the link. Haven't bought our bed because I'm checking out all of my options, i.e buying two separate mattresses one for each side so if one moves the other person doesnt wake up or buying a queen. I may go your route with the mattress since it's more affordable than I initially thought. As for the height, in theory ours will be close to 46", benroy-ish. Thanks again!
@elenamakes Жыл бұрын
No problem! You’re going about it the right way, better to explore all options upfront than have regrets later
@macbethdemilo7253 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I figure I will probably have those anyways lol but I hope that they're small regrets i.e should have out a light over here vs. the door should have been bigger, more insulation, door should be moved etc.... lol
@robertanglee6732 Жыл бұрын
Nice trailer …. Instead adding cabinets inside the trailer. Why not just utilize the trunk space you have in your main vehicle ( Crosstrek ). Leave those extra clothing in the bags and when you use up the clean ones inside the trailer then switch them with the clean ones from the car. Adding cabinet will make less room inside.
@elenamakes Жыл бұрын
Thanks, that is another option for sure! We do bring some larger items that take up a lot of space in the car when camping (paddle boards, mountain bikes, etc), but I do like how much space we have in the teardrop cabin so we might end up not adding that additional storage.

Weight is everything, especially for your SUV. Please research GVW, tow rating, tongue weight and trailer weight dry & loaded. Last where you place the weight in the trailer will effect how fast you can drive with it attached to vehicle. Lots of people do not do proper research.
