Great video! I'll be making one of these to be a disc golf bag for my daughter. Also, instead of trying to measure the circle perimeter you can measure the circle diameter and use that to calculate the perimeter (where pi = 3.1416): circle perimeter = pi * circle diameter

if you add a seam allowance on the circle, then you can clip around it, which helps your circle lay flat. then sew bias tape around the seam to hide the clips and make the bag more finished. i have some 2 sided quilted fabric, i'm going to use to make this.

Very nice. I was thinking if you added a strap, you could turn it into a shoulder purse. Also, if you made it bigger, it would be a cute shoulder bag.

How cute is that?!!! I have some extra ideas for adding a strap and/or pull tabs. I think I’m going to line it also. And there will be NO glue gun in sight! You have many cute items, but adding glue is not the way to go! Hope any new sewers don’t pick up that bad habit :(
@annettehachey79095 жыл бұрын
Not really a bad habit adding glue as it's a shortcut. I myself would not but that doesn't mean it's not correct to do so. Add extras yes but I'm thankful for the basic idea, kudos!.

This video is very helpful I made some but the middle part ends being too small for the circles what am i doing wrong? At the beginning you did 47 plus 4 why did you add 4 to get 51
@fireflysparks11053 жыл бұрын
Hi Achaia. It’s a tricky thing to get right, don’t worry, I still really struggle and hate this part of attaching the right amount of fabric to the circumference of your circle! To fix your problem of having not enough of the strip of fabric to go around you circle is to make the circle abit smaller, that way the strip in the middle won’t need to be as long to get all around it. Just trim off 5mm at a time around your already cut circle and then check again whether your strip will fit round it. This is the way to fix your mistake. This other tip however is a different approach to sewing the whole thing together, it’s really helped me get better more accurate results, I’m really hoping it makes enough sense for you to be able to have a try next time you attempt adding a strip around the outside of your circle: Ok so make and cut out your templates the same as the video ( the extra 4 cm is the seam allowance to allow you to have extra space for the stitching to go on) then stop at the part where she sews each end of her strip into a loop, your going to do that later, after it’s gone around the circle first :) so don’t bother making halfway and quarterway guiding marks to match up with the circle. Your going to just go ahead and start sewing the strip to the circle (start 1cm in from the beginning of the strip) and continue sewing it around the circumference of your circle till you get to the end (where you began your stitching). Now you should be left with your 1cm starting end and whatever extra amount that you didn’t need for going round your circle as the other end of you strip. You match them up neatly and sew the ends together to make the loop (we saw her do this earlier on before she attached strip to circle, I just find it simpler and a lot less stressful to get the strip neatly on first then gather whatever extra I have leftover (from the messed up measuring I always seem to achieve! 😂) and then sew them to make a loop. Then trim off any excess fabric from the ends. If your 2nd circle is the same size as the first you’ll have no problem with it not matching up with your loop of fabric between them and so follow her instructions on how she divides the 4 (‘corners’) and sews it into place on the loop. I really hope this encourages you and helps you try again and make more of these lovely purses, it’ll open up a lot of other sewing projects like making tube shaped pencil cases, fabric storage bucket type pots, beanbags, all sorts etc. ! It’s great that you’re sewing and working on getter better at it! Have fun with it!! God bless, love Danni xxx
